Fran's Restaurant and Bar

This was my first time visiting Fran's and it left a good first impression. My wife mentioned that this is one of the nicer locations. It is situated not far from St. Lawrence Market in a peaceful area. I suggest sitting on the patio during the summer, as it offers a quiet atmosphere with a lovely view of nearby Berczy Park. I went for brunch on a Saturday afternoon (though there isn't a specific brunch menu, they serve breakfast all day). It was quite busy and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated, but the hostess was apologetic and we were seated on the patio promptly. I've eaten at several Frans locations, and of them all I would say that this one is the most pretentious. You might also call it upscale, but considering the retro diner theme of the other restaurants, this one makes me the most uncomfortable. Having said that the food and service was exactly what I expect of Frans. Friendly staff and simple tasty food.The only two problems I came across are the fact that some of the patio seating (in particular where we were sitting) is right over a grate. It makes you very uncomfortable to sit knowing if you drop anything small it's lost forever. The other problem I noticed while paying my bill. Located at the corner of Front and Yonge, this restaurant is conveniently close to my home. After finally making plans to visit, we decided to go for breakfast on Christmas morning. Despite the busy atmosphere, we were seated quickly and our order was taken promptly. The menu is extensive, offering all day breakfast options. We decided to try the Big Breakfast and the Portobello Benedict, both of which were delicious and served quickly. My ex-coworker and I always meet up at this restaurant for lunch, and until last week we were there for lunch. I ordered a dish called "Chicken and Waffles" with the description of "A freshly-made waffle with spicy fried chicken, drizzled with Fran's maple syrup, topped with green onions for $13.99" Guess what. I received a waffle with three chicken wings on it and it costs $13.99 called the store manager and he just showed up said he can't do anything about it. because he is not the owner. WTH. We visited this restaurant after attending a show at Meridian Hall, as they were open late and conveniently located across the street. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Although the restaurant was busy, our food arrived swiftly. The chorizo sausage hash was particularly delicious, and the traditional 2 egg dish was also great. I would definitely return to this restaurant, especially after seeing another show at Meridian Hall.

We had Sunday breakfast at Fran's - choice of either sunny outside tables or air conditioning inside means it's a suitable place for all preferences. Wide choice of food from the all day breakfast selection. I had the Breakfast on the Seine and it was really tasty and at $12 very good value. The service was friendly and helpful.

I dropped in on Friday night - it was busy yet I was seated at the bar instantly.My food order came in under 10 minutes.Shepherds pie and it was superb.The bartenders were excellent with my drink and refills.Definitely a great place to eat.I will be back again in the future.

Quick and friendly service, good atmosphere, clean. We went for breakfast - I had the corned beef hash and my friend had an omelette. The eggs were over cooked for both of our meals. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. Pretty average breakfast. Reserva una mesa ahora

Decent chilly soup, and also veggie chilly option! Their pasta is kind of overcooked but still OK to eat (maybe not if you are Italian). Excellent nachos snacks, attentive service, we are always happy to eat at Fran's!

We had a meal in Frans a week ago. Although the service was good, the food was poorly-presented and tasteless. .we ate out 8 nights in a row in Toronto, and this was the worst meal.
