We went to the Wednesday evening fondue and we were quite disappointed. Firstly when we arrived, we were shown to our table and we were not sure what the procedure was. There was a plate of raw meat and several dips and salads. It took a while before our drinks order was taken (which is unusual in Austria). We weren't sure whether to start cooking or not. Some time later a soup arrived which was very nice. We all decided that it was the lack of atmosphere that was the main issue. There was a feeling of lack of organisation. We have this trip to the maple on 19. July. We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children aged 13 and 10. The experience was quite expensive for us, but we felt that it is worth seeing the sunset on such a beautiful evening. Luckily the heavens were clear and the sun seemed. All employees were very pleasant and helpful and certainly did everything to us all feel welcome in this beautiful restaurant. The BBQ was okay. A little hard at the marinade. We booked a rather expensive fondue night on Mount Ahorn. Taking into account that we had excellent food at our hotel for half the price we all left the place rather disappointed. the food was OK, nothing more nothing less, what could have made night special was a tour through the place. We could not see anything of the nice view, the drinks were expensive and the food not special enough for the price. We had to wait for almost an hour before we were able to leave again, as the gondola left so late. Auf den ersten Blick sehr nett, stellte sich das Dinner am Ahornrestaurant Freiblick als nicht so gewinnend dar. Aussicht gab's an diesem Abend keine, was natürlich nicht in der Macht des Restaurantteams stand, aber ausser dem Tomatensüppchen zum Beginn war wenig einladend für eine Wiederholung. Dressings zum Fleisch recht geschmacklos, Salate naja, ... wir waren jedenfalls enttäuscht. An der Qualität dieses Fondues könnte noch gearbeitet werden. Personal bemüht , aber auch da wäre noch mehr drin.
Die Architektur ist preisgekrönt. Die Aussicht auf die Bergwelt der Zillertaler Alpen verdient sich ebenso einen Preis. Damit ist die Preisvergabe aber schon beendet. Obwohl das Gebäude noch nicht so alt sein kann, schaut es bereits ein bisschen abgenutzt aus - vor allem das Holz. Die Küche und das Service sind nichts besonderes und daher nicht großartig erwähnenswert. Die Preise gehoben - es gehört ja alles finanziert. Gemütlichkeit kommt leider nicht auf.
Der Freiraum grenzt dirket an die Bergstation der Ahornbahn und das dort befindliche Sportgeschäft. Ein stylischer Quader mit Panoramasicht auf Mayrhofen tief unten im Tal und die Berge der Umgebung( wenn das Wetter es zulässt).Nicht so in unserem Fall: Schneesturm. Dafür fühlten wir uns bei der sehr aufmerksamen Bedienung und dem coolen Interieur sehr wohl. Eine Schihütte mit Niveau!
Das moderne Design mit den riesigen Glasfenstern bietet ein besonderes Pausenerlebnis. Hier kann man seinen Kaffee mit einem unvergleichlichen Ausblick würzen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Die Karte ist kurz, die Preise dem Ambiente entsprechend, jedoch für die gebotene Qualität durchaus akzeptabel.

Leider ist der Freiraum geschlossen, weil sich kein Pächter mehr gefunden hat..Stand Januar 2017:-(Der Ahornberg verliert damit stark an Attraktivität
