"We chose to sit outside and enjoy the view by the cathedral/Dom square.....the waiter kept bringing endless glases of Kolsch beer (delicious, light draught, served cold in smaller glasses, cold brewing process, true Kolsch beer served only in Cologne!!) and we paired that with delicious bratwurst which came with choice of sides - the saurkraut and fried potatoes were a good choice."

We went there after reading good reviews about the place and we found a terrible treatment towards foreigners. We sited at a table after a few minutes of not knowing what to do and being growled to move to the end of the restaurant because we were standing in the middle, the waiter came after 5-10mins, asked how many beers we wanted and before being able to ask for the menu as well he just went away. When he came back with the beers and we finally were able to ask for the menus, it took him another 10mins just to take them from a close table and handle them to us. After all, the gulash and the speciality sausage that we ordered were good, but the service was unpleasant, like if they didn't want foreigners inside or they weren't happy about having such customers. We felt a little bit bad about that.

Stopped here for an early dinner on a Saturday. It was very busy as to be expected this day. Decent weather meant for a perfect outdoor beer garden. Lucky us, someone had just left their table outside so we grabbed it! I have no negative comments about this place. We had a great waiter, good German food and the cold beer just kept coming our way! We would re-visit this place if we return to Cologne! When reading the negative comments others have written about service, keep in mind you are in Europe. Customer service lacks a bit here and it does suck at times. Our visit here was actually great though. By far the friendliest waiter we had in Cologne over our three days. Wish I had taken his name!!!

Everytime we go to Cologne, we have to go here to eat good German food, drink früh beer and say hello to some of the waiters there who became friends over the years. The location is near the main train station, the Dom and the shopping area. Though a bit crowded during lunch and dinner time, still you can enjoy feasting the German sausages, pork knuckles, sauerkraut and the apple strudel with endless serving of beer unless you say stop to the waiter. Lots of tourists go here for an authentic German treat. If you are planning to visit Cologne anytime soon, make sure to include this restaurant in your itinerary.

Another bierhaus in the area around the Dom that should be on your list of places to go. We met a young couple that asked us to share their table with them. They had been to the US and noticed our accents. We had an enjoyable time drinking Kolsch, eating bratwurst (best place so far), and telling stories. Service was timely, quite necessary for those 0.2 l beers. A great place for food and beverage, so we went back one more time. Thanks Inka!
