I enjoyed my lunch there at the end of May. Many items not available as I arrived later than most. No problem and glad to see a place run out of favorites. Enjoyed the Beef of the House loosely translated, and it was a tender cut with a nice melted queijo. Accompaniments: small lettuce and shredded carrot salad, chips (batates frites), as is the norm and I requested soup. Sopa (nearly always legumes) seems to be the best way to get your veggies here in Portugal and I love it. Vinho Tinto de casa was a slightly bubbly red, outside of my norm, but just fine. Finished with coffee. Excellent meal, large portions and the 20euro price for all is fine for my budget as it 's really two meals for me....
When visiting Minho (Northen Portugal), located in the countryside of MOLEDO Parish, you will find the Restaurant GAIVOTA (Seagull). We had a very enjoyable family lunch. The starters (small chicken pies) were delicious. Then came our choices of Bacalhau com broa (cod with corn bread), Bacalhau com Natas (cod with cream and mozarela cheese) and rabitt. The food was excellent. Some of us had home made desert. The Staff were amiable and professional. The prices are very reasonable. The Restaurant is open from Moday to Sunday (12:00/15:00 19:00/22:00) and is advisable to make reservation (Ph.: 258921661). Beeing in a narrow street you have to park your car in a car parking, about 200 meters fro...
Visiting the Minho in what seems to be the low season another highly recommended restaurant opens only at weekends between mid September and July we were absolutely delighted to find Gaivota open. The staff were amiable and forgiving of our poor Portuguese, the restaurant clean, and the food and service excellent. Over four visits we ordered most of the dishes on the menu, enjoying them all. I thoroughly recommend the bacalhau à brás! We drank the very reasonably priced regional wines to complement the dishes. We just about had room to order, and enjoy, the sobremesas.
Excellent food, very friendly staff, cozy setting, definitely one of Moledo 's best kept secrets! If you like fish, you 'll love the dishes on offer here. The monkfish and salt cod dishes in particular are highly recommended, as are the fish of the day (although to have a chance, you need to arrive early for lunch! Reserva una mesa ahora
Every time we go back to Portugal we end going to Gaivota for the professionalism shown by the owner, the quantity of the food and elegance of spaces and dishes. By now we tried everything on the menu and every time we go there we always find hard to choose from so many good things! It's a MUST if you are nearby.
