This is such a painful review to write. The Galloping Hill Inn is a beloved part of my childhood. Every weekend my father would take me here and we 'd always order the same thing; two hot dogs with brown mustard, sauerkraut, sweet and hot relish, along with an order of onion rings to share, and two birch beers. I 'm older now and haven 't been to the Galloping Hill Inn in years, but recently, my father, who is now in his 80 's, expressed a desire to return. The food was inedible. I truly hope this restaurant closes its doors. The bun used for the hot dog was stale and unappealing—definitely not suitable for a hot dog. The ketchup bottle at my table was in such poor condition that I had to grab one from a neighboring table. When I squeezed it onto my fries, a brown substance came out that looked nothing like ketchup. While I understand that some places refill ketchup bottles from larger containers, what came out was definitely not Heinz. Honestly, I wouldn't even consider eating it. As I mentioned before, I really hope this restaurant goes out of business!
This isn’t a fancy place, but it definitely satisfies your cravings for hot dogs and birch beer. If you’re in the mood for a Coors Light with your hot dog, they have that too. It’s been around for many years and although it may not be as famous as Hiram’s or Rutt’s Hut, it’s still a solid choice. There is an indoor seating area with wait service, but I usually prefer to order at the counter and enjoy my meal outdoors.
As a long-time resident of Union, I have many fond memories of this restaurant, but I'm not sure what's changed. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has significantly declined. I had one of the worst Italian hot dogs I've ever tasted, and my friend ordered a cheeseburger that wasn't even up to fast food standards. I'm hoping this was just an off day, but I've heard similar feedback from others as well.

This venue is fantastic for private parties. The service was attentive, with prompt drink refills and helpful staff at the buffet. The space itself was roomy and comfortable. I also visited the hot dog stand next to the party venue, and their hot dogs are among the best in the area. The menu is quite extensive, and I plan to try the hot meals, burgers, or sandwiches the next time I'm in Union.
I stopped by the Take Out side of the place today for late lunch. Was a little wary of what to order after having read some negative comments here. Glad I didn't let that stop me tho'. I ordered a teriyaki chicken sandwich with fries to go, and Galloping Hill did not disappoint! My order was ready in under five minutes, which made me wonder if it was even cooked, but it was. The fries were tasty and crispy. The sandwich had the perfect amount of teriyaki sauce. I paid $13, which was about what I expected.
I've been to this place many times over the years. Deceptively large venue with outdoor eating area, small luncheon style interior area, a door with leads to a larger dining area. Known for their Hot Dogs, which don't disappoint. A local staple of the area worth a stop.

Talk about going completely downhill. There is no way that the hot dog roll I was served was from that day. Also, after repeating my order twice, the guy that's worked there for 20+ years, got it incorrect. Sorry but needs new management.
The food is excellent! This is nearly always our go-to spot, where my friends and family come together to create wonderful memories.
