Migrated review from another platform, as I'm consolidating my reviews to this platform. Visited in October of 2021. Wooow this place was bad. First time we came a couple years ago the broth was burned. Turned me off Ramen for a good while. I don't remember much else from then. This time, we came up around 6:30pm and put our names on the wait list. It took an hour which was fine because the waitlist functionality was great and we knew where we were in line while we were shopping elsewhere. When we got back the hostess said she didn't think we were coming back, then took our order (Shoyu 1910 while we were waiting for our table to be cleaned. She gave us a weird look when we were getting a single bowl to split between two people. (Which happened last time we were here, too. Once we were seated, we were served quickly and noticed immediately that our bowl (which we ordered extra meat and extra noodles had significantly less in it than the people sitting next to us who had been eating for a while already. We started eating and were not impressed. The broth was too salty, the pork was almost entirely fat and very low quality, and frankly the prices were unnecessarily high. On the plus side, these guys have their waitlist set up well, their service is fast, and they had out extra bowl and 2 sets of spoons and such already at our table when we sat down. The pork was well cooked, which is less common than you might think, but the horrible quality made that irrelevant. Maybe just work on the quality (and quantity in the future? Anyways, my friend and I will not be returning. 2 stars is generous here but earned because the sheer speed once our spot in the wait list came up. If you're looking for us, we'll be at Blue Yama down here or Sapporo in Porter. Ciao!

Brief Review to Shoyu 1910 Ramen 6.8/10 It is smart to open a ramen shop within this compact store. Before the ramen was served, you could definitely smell the roasting flavor in the air. But the flaw of this certain kind of Ramen is, there’s an unwelcome bitter flavor in the soup, which was coming from the over-roasting pork belly. They might used soy sauce during the glazing process, but anyway, it gives the meat a bitterness and light Smoky flavor. Since it’s a soup noodle, the bitterness catch up to everything in the noodle. Besides, I understand it was for better efficiency, but the bamboo shoots was a bit cold. This might be the special flavor that attract its customers, but I’m still recommend if you are the first time to this restaurant, try something else. My recommendation would be the spicy shoyu. This review is not applicable on everyone, only depends on my taste.

My favorite is the spicy Tan Tan ramen. There could be some waiting. Make sure you get waitlisted when you arrive. I always think sweet corn is a bit interesting garnish for ramen, but they did good job putting together for a tasty ramen. Meter parkings are available either on Harvard st or Central st. We went here on a Tuesday night and it took us roughly 20 minutes to get a table but the wait was so worth it. Delicious food. I had vegetarian ramen, while the others in our party did not. Everything was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend!
