Gar Lok is a Chinese restaurant located in Mosman Park. The staff are very friendly, helpful and quick to deliver, however the food is disappointing. We have ordered takeaway from this restaurant a couple of times and found the food to be quite average. Granted it's always hot and there's an extensive menu, but it's seriously lacking in flavour. Note: there aren't a lot of options for cheap takeaway food in Mosman Park, but if you're feeling lazy and wanting a cheap and quick meal then try this place (just keep low expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised?).
The original Gar Lok was an institution in the western suburbs of Perth for more than 25 years. It enjoyed a fiercely loyal clientele of 'mature' diners and bookings were not encouraged or indeed needed. You were lucky to find a table!The original owners sold out and the Gar Lok world changed!It is now being renovated, hopefully to return to its former glory.Before booking, check the 'latest news' on its reopening.I hope it does and continues its excellent tradition.
This place has been here for many years , and a lot of my friends have school day tales of going to the Gar Lok for meals. Good food , and a good mix of offerings, I have never been disappointed with the food in my 6 visits .The decor could be lifted , but that is part of the old world charm.
Overall - fair to average and not consistent. Have eaten here in the past and done a few takeaways - rarely have I experienced a meal that has been memorable - relatively average - typical suburban "australianised" chinese restaurant. Lots better elsewhare - shop around if you have time.

This restaurant has tried to cater for everyone and has ended up producing a wide range of terrible food from different cuisines. The food is bland and definitely not worth the money you pay for it. The décor is also very very dated and in need of some tlc.
It is easy to overlook Gar Lok - located just down the road from my house, I always thought it was an abandoned, closed-down store.
Don't be fooled by the exterior, there's a hidden gem inside! The food is actually quite good considering the price.
The entrance of this restaurant definitely needs some improvement.
