Gasthaus zum Riesen

Since 8 years I've been trying out all restaurants in Main Spessart together with my German boyfriend. Our expectations of this restaurant were quite high, due to the positive recommendations on TripAdvisor. However, besides the friendly young men who served us, we were really disappointed by the food quality and service @ Zum Riesen.We ordered the Kartoffelsuppe and Meerrettichsuppe that both came relatively fast and were good. As a main course we both decided to go for the schnitzel (which cannot be bad in a Frankisch-Bayerisch restaurant you would say..). This gem, the oldest pub in Germany, was once reportedly frequented by the King of Rock and Roll himself. The ambiance of this over 400 year old building alone is worth a stop but the locally brewed beer (Faust) combined with a good meal elevate this place to the "must see" category. Favored by locals and tourists alike; it is unfortunate that the lunch menu is so small compared to the dinner menu, which is not clear when you are presented with the menu. We lucked out and found the small "grotto" to the left of the stairs available and could not have enjoyed the ambiance more. We order the Wurstsalat (ham salad), the kale salad with cranberries and goat cheese and a lentil, noodle and wiener...

Took a train ride from Frankfurt to Miltenberg, an adorable well preserved town in Bavaria. After strolling around the beautiful town we stopped at Gasthaus Zum Riesen for a delicious lunch. The guys had beer with their lunch, too! The Schnitzel was very good, my husband had sausage with kraut & gravy, excellent! Our friends had potato soup & pasta & were very happy with their choices. It was a great place to stop, great choice on our part. Nice experience & would highly recommend Gasthaus to anyone visiting Mitenberg, a very historic establishment. Our server was very friendly, prices very reasonable & a great choice. Also, a nice menu to choose from!

What an experience!My friend took me for a drive around the Main region and we stopped for lunch in Miltenberg Zum Riesen. The weather was kind, tables were occupied outside so we sat inside. Quick and efficient service took our orders in no time, the menu is in a form of a newspaper featuring regional cuisine and 16 different beer's from the local Faust Brewery which is also a short walk from the Restaurant.I liked the ambience, the food, and of course the beer.I just hope I have the chance to eat here again during this trip to Germany.Keep it up fellows!!! This restaurant has a long, long history. At one time only the emperor could eat there, then it was only for nobility. Now us common folk can eat there. It has to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Mitlenberg.The Bratwurst was juicy and tasty. The potatoes served with it were excellent. We also enjoyed the Faust beer. The food and service were excellent and even the bathrooms were above par.

A 425 year old traditional guesthouse that serves authentic German food. We tried the Bavarian beer, bratwurst, and sauerkraut with potato puree. They were very good and not pricey. We were disappointed that we didn't get to try the wiener schnitzel because they don't serve it until 7:00pm. What a pity!!

Beer ... good... white Bavarian sausage ... also very good. pretzel good. Wiener Schnitzel very good... I mean it's Germany how good will the food be but this place was good .... we would go again if we weren't leaving town. It's kinda cool inside as well like a old ancient bar. You should go

We had beer and dinner at this charming old restaurant. We did not have reservations (make them if you go) but the host was able to fit us in. We shared a table with another couple and had a good time and very good food, Reserva una mesa ahora

We took lunch here after spending the day hiking Miltenberg. The food was very good, the bier thirst quenching and the service attentive.

The food was Fantastic and the beer was great. Service was fast and friendly. Nice atmosphere and very clean. Highly recommend.
