After a relaxing walk from Marbachegg down to Schangnau I stopped for dinner at Gasthof Löwen it proved an excellent choice. The house is truly beautiful and impressive, style is typical to the Emmental region. The wooden dining room boasts a warm and cozy atmosphere. A special thanks goes to Janine for her very friendly and efficient service. The menu is Swiss traditional with much focus on regional produce. I started with the tasty Wybersalat mixed salad with bacon bits and croutons. As main course I chose one of the regional specialties: pan fried Entlebuch trout fillets. An inn at the back of the Emmental where you feel at home. Very good kitchen with everything your heart desires and the dishes are prepared with a lot of love. Also for what you get here in terms of quality, it is very inexpensive, and the beautiful desserts are worth a sin. The service is very friendly and there is still time for one or the other explanation. An overnight stay in one of the special rooms is certainly the crowning glory of a wonderful day in the Schangnau region. A big bravo to the lion team, keep it up. Everything is real all around. A greeting with a handshake, a friendliness that is rarely found today. The food excellent. Sleep is guaranteed at night, Schangnau has little through traffic.
