I recently visited a spot now known as Jack's Craft Ale Diner. I arrived for lunch on a hot Saturday afternoon, feeling overheated and thirsty after a humid morning of hiking. The place was empty except for a friendly young man (presumably Jack) who seemed to be taking on multiple roles as bartender, chef, handyman, and cleaner. He prepared a tasty meal for me consisting of chicken breast, chips, and a side salad, all served in American diner style with fries. The pub is themed as an American diner, which is unique for a countryside village. The spacious bar area has a cool and inviting atmosphere. Took my dog for a walk after working all weekend and fancied a couple of pints so called at the pub formally known as The George and Dragon only to find it closed at 20:05. I looked online where it claimed to be open till 21:00 on a Sunday so walked to other end of the village to find the pub also owned by the same people and also open till 21:00, this was also closed. I expressed my disappointment on a village social media page and the next Saturday I called in to the above with a friend only to be told by an embarrassed barmaid that I was barred from both pub's. Very petty and small minded considering they are struggling to fill the pub with only a few people in that night, not a great bus...
There’s no ale apart from Wainwright’s. Was expecting more from this place. We came early on a Saturday and it was dead. Decided against having any food but I’m sure it would have been ok. Just disappointed at the lack of ale. False advertising! Get some local ales on at the very least or some American ipa seeing as how you’re advertising as an American-style diner. Place seems a bit dated which is a shame as it’s got a cracking beer garden overlooking lush trees and grassy areas. Very average.
This is a very old pub, with low ceilings and beams, but it has been turned into an American diner which does not really match the building. The burgers were good large, good value there is a beer garden and dogs are allowed in the pub. Personally I would have preferred this to be a traditional pub decent food somewhere good to take the kids

We were impressed from the moment we walked into this restaurant. Ryan, a fantastic young man, greeted us and made our experience truly special. He talked to us throughout our visit and the food was excellent. You definitely have to come hungry as the portions are generous. The desserts were also delicious. A 5-star rating from us!
We brought the kids for a Sunday afternoon treat. The menu is limited but what they do produce is of a good standard. The Burgers are a good size and very tasty, good value for money. Better still, kids eat free : The young lad that was serving on his own did very well too. He's very friendly and welcoming. We will return.
Glad we ignored the mixed reviews for this lovely warm friendly pub with a modern twist on the menu...Great quality burgers which we ordered medium and were cooked perfectly ... Gonna try the chicken on our next visit.. Friendly service.. Pub steeped in history.. Hope it’s haunted
I went to this restaurant with my puppy for a few quiet drinks because I heard they were having a quiz and live music. The atmosphere was friendly and I enjoyed my drink. I look forward to when they start serving food again.

What history., could be so much more. I hear food is no longer on the menu. It needs to go back to its original glory and a sympathetic make over would pull in the punters. Such a shame. I hope to see this one day.
This was a wonderful bar with a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The drink choice was very extensive and varied. Beautiful old building with character
