The shop has moved from that shown but same area I have been to this and other branches of George’s in The past and it’s usually better than most. Saturday lunch about 2.00 I just ordered small cod and chips special at £9 The cook asked if I wanted a fresh one I think there were a couple of fish that had been sitting around so he threw those and cooked a fresh one Grateful for that and it was perfect The peas were good too However, the chips were probably the worst I have had for a long time Too many , cold, tasteless , just how they could have been served is beyond me I should have complained but instead I’ll never go again Sad really, it should be fairly easy to cook decent chips
I am very disappointed with George's for the second time in a row! This is the second occasion when I have received the wrong meals upon arriving home. Two out of the four meals were incorrect. The absence of sausage in the kids' sausage meal was the final straw. We will not be dining here again. When I returned to address the issue, the staff did not seem very concerned. Remember, your staff are the face of your brand!
Do not waste your time! I ordered a small fish and chips with mushy peas, a minced beef pie and chips, and curry sauce. The chips tasted old, the fish was soggy and lukewarm, and the curry sauce was so diluted that it was practically water. I spent £17 on this meal and it was a complete disappointment. Even though this restaurant is close to my house, I would not go back even if they were offering the food for free.
I have to agree with the previous reviewer regarding the fish. I ordered the large haddock for over £10 and it was the smallest fish I have ever seen. It was meant to feed two people but it looked like a mini fish to me! It's ridiculous. I will definitely be checking my items next time.
