There's a wealth of restaurants on Lygon Street in Carleton, Melbourne. For the most part they're Italian, Asian or bistro style. Ghans House is a Middle Eastern restaurant with well thought out, deep rich food that makes your stomach happy. Their dumpling are incredible, as are their kebabs and rice dishes. Everything we ate was incredible and we ate a lot. We went nuts and ordered their Banquet menu, which offered a taste of almost everything, We finished with Moroccan green tea and milk fudge that was the perfect finish. After receiving a warm and friendly welcome, we were treated to a delicious selection of dips to begin our Afghani meal. Full of herbs and spices, all the dishes tempted the taste buds. Accompanied by fresh salads, chutneys, yoghurt, and bread, the main dishes which we tried were delicious and generous. We enjoyed the chicken and lamb tikka kebabs and the aromatic Qabuli dish. A real surprise at the conclusion of the meal was the selection of home made Afghani desserts, served with a delicious cardamon infused green tea. A delightful conclusion to a delightful meal.

We had a group of 8 which is always difficult to cater for, but the helpful staff made sure the food suited each person. The food was delicious and interesting. Meals were very satisfying and staff couldn't do enough to please. Highly recommended.

We dined here tonight after flying in from Brisbane and New Zealand. The service from Baz was super friendly and amazingly generous. The food in the banquet was tasty and delicious. We highly recommend you try this newcomer in the Lygon strip.

My husband and I were recommended the banquet and we weren't let down.. we rolled out ghe door well satisfied food was delicious! Staff were really friendly and always on hand if you needed anything..
