We elected to dine at Gibson’s as we received multiple recommendations from friends. However, the experience fell way short. As for good, table was ready 15 minutes early, personable accommodating waiter, and sea bass was incredible. On the other hand, horrible atmosphere. Basically, the restaurant intended to put as many tables as possible in a single room, at the expense of any privacy. The surrounding tables were practically dining with us. Additionally, 14 oz filet mignon was ordered with high hopes but it was a big disappointment. As for my suggestion to anyone looking for options, STK Steakhouse, where we dined the night before, earned 5 stars in every single aspect.
The ambiance was cozy and romantic, perfect for a special occasion. The service was impeccable, with our server providing excellent recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal.
Now onto the food - absolutely incredible. Every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. We particularly loved the seafood selections, which were fresh and cooked to perfection.
Overall, this restaurant exceeded our expectations and made my boyfriend's birthday dinner truly unforgettable. We will definitely be returning next time we are in Chicago.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. It felt like our waiter was rushing us from the moment we sat down, coming to our table numerous times and seemingly eager to get us out before the evening rush. Despite our efforts to enjoy our meal, we were out the door within an hour. The food was decent, but I ended up receiving the wrong dish, possibly because the onion rings I ordered weren't ready and the waiter didn't want to wait. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are in a hurry or have a show to catch. I will not be returning.
First time in Chicago and HAD to go to Gibsons; we went around lunch time on a Friday and they got us seated immediately. The server Daniel was AMAZING. He is the expert in all things steak and all things Gibsons and 10/10 thanks to the food and his service we would def come again. We got the WR Chicago cut and it was immaculate! The “garbage” salad was also recc’d and amazing and the clam chowder was the stuff of dreams. RUN don’t walk to Gibsons when you come to Chicago. It’s a “must do” for a reason.

This restaurant is doing everything right. The steak is delicious, as are the burgers, fries, and sauce Bernaise. While the interior may be a little dark and old-fashioned for some, the outside seating area offers a beautiful view over one of Chicago's most upscale squares. Our server, Daniel, provided exceptional service with great knowledge, recommendations, and empathy towards guests. Overall, a true Chicago experience not to be missed.
The staff at this restaurant are all skilled professionals who know exactly what they are doing. Kathy and the host staff, in particular, are exceptional.
As someone who is not originally from Chicago, I didn't know much about the area, but I had definitely heard of the famous Gibson's restaurant.
Upscale steakhouse. Delicious food, prepared very well. All staff friendly and welcoming/professional. Would highly recommend this location.

Fish, perfect. Vegetables, good. Steak, had to cut the burn off the outsides, could only taste an overpowering burn taste. Shame.
I cannot express enough how fantastic my experience at Gibson's was last night.
