It took me a while to write this. It was last year December, I was wandering around the city to try to find somewhere cozy to sit and try to celebrate my birthday. This was a trip I made to try to enjoy life in general and leave behind bad thoughts, I was going trough a really hard time, it was my birthday I was alone in a city miles and miles away from family and friends that I had to leave behind for a while to get back to myself and heal from a really bad last few months. The perfect setting for a romantic night out. Guys, I don't know who is in charge of your music but promote them. What fantastic ambience and setting with a playlist that will just make you enjoy your night that much more...seriously, if you have a Spotify playlist somewhere tell me!! The service is impeccable, reasonably priced drinks and food (that carrot cake...damnnn..best carrot cake I've had in a while). We were in Chicago for one night only and I am so happy we stumbled upon you. Everything about Gilt Bar is perfect! Don't forget to take a trip to the bathroom.....totally worth it
Amazing food!!! We really enjoyed the ambience, the food, the service, everything!! Drinks were well made, pasta was cooked to perfection! The salad was also surprisingly really refreshing. The only complaint I have is towards the end of our dinner there was a group next to us and they were 6 people seated at a table for 4 so they were kind of in our table space and it was just awkward. I could hear everything they were saying and I felt weird that they could hear me
For some reason, the music in the place was so loud that my seat bench was vibrating the whole time. It was such a relief when songs ended. Food was fine but not worth the volume. Probably would have left had we expected to find another place in river north on a Friday night without a reservation. Btw gilt bar now charges a $10 reservation fee that doesn't go towards bill. Was able to snag a spot at the bar in the library downstairs. It's dark, moody, and intimate down there and so incredibly cool (well hot as f, but... . The bartender/server was awesome. Started with a delicious salad, was recommended the Orecchiette, and finished with an amazing chocolate cake. Pretty much a perfect meal all around.
