I reserved a double room at an Airbnb for the night with my partner, both of us being vegan. We were excited to check out the city. Unfortunately, the room we were given was extremely dirty and dusty, with a piece of cardboard covering a broken window. The bed was uncomfortable, with no mattress protector and a missing light bulb in the bedside lamp. We decided to leave and informed the bar staff, who were apologetic and promised a refund. Though the building and rooms say trad boozer, the Golden Fleece feels a bit different. The aesthetic is appealing: brick and wooden details, colourful signs, a mural of Snoopy in his pilot's helmet, dashes of a Caribbean flavour. All clean and dapper. I just had a coffee at first. You don't always get a good one in a bar; but my Americano was properly hot and had its own unusual, pleasantly bitter tang. The milk came separately, and it took all of it to whiten this dark brew. The young bartender agreed with me that coffee should be hot, which is the way she likes it herself. Truth is, too many places serve it luke. I liked the ambience of the place. This boozer... They’ve got water, they’ve got fire, they’ve got glasses, they’ve got taps and praise the lord they’ve got beer, but they’ve got no good service! I can honestly tell you this is one of the worst boozers I’ve step foot in, it’s overpriced, the staff and management are extremely disrespectful and the only work I ever saw these supposed managers do was go on their phone and go for fag breaks! God forbid they’d actually pour you a decent pint without waiting for them to finish a crafty fag. Avoid at all costs.
Incredibly rude staff. Dirty in all areas (especially toilets &behind the bar). Horrible atmosphere and felt completely unwanted by the staff working there. The worst pub i’ve visited in Notts in my 15 years of living here. Will never go back whilst under that management and staff. Ordered a pint and it was flat, asked for a new one and they refused. If i could give a 0 i would!!!! PUB FROM HELL!!

Great pub, lovely friendly staff and the food by Prickly Pear was amazing! We had tofu 'fish ' and chips and the plant based Caesar salad and both were the best we 've ever eaten. We couldn 't sample the beer this time as we were driving home but hoping to make a return visit to remedy that!
This pub menu is solely vegan food and we thought it was extremely poor quality using simulated style beef in the doner- what's wrong with using fresh vegetables?! You can do wonderful meals with aubergines and peppers! Also food very poorly presented and half cold when it got to the table.
Oh my goodness! Emily exceeded all my expectations at this pub. It was the best experience I have ever had at a pub. I brought my date here and Emily set up the perfect ambiance with candles. I am so grateful for her and believe she deserves a raise or promotion. Thank you, Emily.
Had a delicious vegan meal, particularly loved the scrambled tofu (chose not to have the chilli sauce drizzle . Staff friendly and answered questions about menu. Kitchen staff friendly and helpful too. Velvety hot choc :

I have to say, this place has the best fish and chips I've ever had, whether vegan or not. The staff is lovely and all the drinks are vegan-friendly as well. It's a great pub.
