I explained that I had a garlic allergy and asked about the Eggplant Parma which the server went and checked and came back and told me I could not have. Good, thank you. I ordered the fish and chips and asked if she could run the garlic filter over my order, the reply was no worries. It's the little things that count. The drink I specifically asked for without ice came with ice, at the same time fifteen minutes later as our meal was served. But here is the kicker. We popped in for lunch on a hot, rainy, humid day and the air conditioning was great. The ladies working the bar were friendly and welcoming. There were four $14 lunch specials - burger with chips, quinoa salad, meat lovers pizza, and a parma. I ordered the burger and it was delicious, as were the chips. We also got the rocket, pear, and parmaesan salad ($8) and it was tasty too. The wine list covers the bases and the New Zealand Sauv Blanc was good, but most of the wines seem a bit overpriced. Overall we are very happy with the meal and will be back.
If you feel like having a decent meal of steak with salad and potato wedges at a very affordable price, head straight to Golden Gate Hotel, an old pub- style hotel in Clarendon Street. On Sundays, they offer a regular special such as roast beef also with sides, and Yorkshire pudding plus a glass of wine, also at an affordable price.
Went to this hotel for a luncheon during a conference with collegues. Hotel offered $10.00 steaks which a few collegues took advantage of. I had the parmiginana which was great. Good size and with the traditional chips and salad, I coudn't fault it.

Spent the evening catching up with some close friends. Hard to decide what to order as everything sounds delicious. Kind and professional staff. And located in a beautiful building. Very much worth the visit.
The $10 steak special can't be beaten and with daily happy hour from 4-6pm it's hard to beat for value. Friendly staff and great vibe. Would definitely recommend it.
When in need of a good feed and a beer you can pop in here! Ok less of the poetry, more of the food! The bar is spacious and there are some good tunes

Seriously It was a nicely seared, slightly charred, medium rare, juicy piece of meat.
