Regular readers of my reviews will know that I am extremely fussy about Fish and Chips. I have visited every single fish bar within a 5 mile radius in my search for a good piece of cod and chips. The Golden Kitchen in North Harrow is definitely amongst the top 3. I used to visit here as a child and teenager, and the food was great. Then it started slipping, and a few years before their retirement, the quality of food from the previous owners went seriously downhill. This was a long wait from ordering to receiving the food, and yet everything we ordered seemed to be in the top box, not sure if they had to cook chips though. The staff are rude and impolite. The fish I ordered, cod, was disgraceful. It was old, probably from the lunch time session being used that evening, the batter was soggy and tasted strange, the fish was overcooked, did not flake, was effectively a soggy mess. I have never had battered cod so disgusting and the chips were also soggy and sad. I will never use again, even if they are offering free, and talking of cost, this was far too high, even had the product been good quality and fresh. Yuk

I was scolded and complained to after I dared to ask for the chips to be open instead of wrapped. I mentioned that previous owners would have been polite enough to inquire. The staff responded by trying to argue aggressively. The new owners lack any understanding of customer service. After over 25 years, I will not be returning. I believe that many former customers will also choose to dine elsewhere.

Absolutely delicious. The fish portions were a good size and cooked perfectly; one piece in batter and the other in Matzo meal. The Large portion of chips was huge. The mushy peas may have been a bit watery. We had placed our order in person earlier in the day for collection that evening, and everything was ready and waiting for us at the scheduled time. Waited well over 30 minutes for takeaway before asking for my money back and going to the kebab shop instead.The bearded man is extremely rude and agressive,was shouting because a customer politely asked how much longer his food would be. Other people waiting also requested their money back. Think there are new owners as its not what it used to be!

This place used to be fantastic but it seems to be taken over by someone else now. The service is slow even when there aren't people waiting and the service just isn't what it used to be. The food is still great but they're going to lose a lot of customers if they don't sort things out.

The new owners don't seem to want to accept constructive criticism from loyal customers. They are prepared to argue back and not accept feedback. They have lost a loyal customer.

Great place. New owner is very friendly and the food is as good as it ever was. Would not hesitate to return and also sit inside now that restrictions are lifted. Reserva una mesa ahora

We had two battered cod and one grilled cod. The fish was thick and perfectly cooked. Still not the quickest service but well worth the wait this time.

The food was delicious, but it took over 20 minutes to wait for my cod and chips to go, even though there were only 2 people ahead of me in line.
