Even though its local for us it is by far one of the best Chinese restaurants around- never disappoints. The mix of Chinese with Malaysian influence is the secret - The menu has been updated recently - a few entrees have changed with the addition of Vietnamese spring rolls- We opted for the Sesame prawns and the 2 serves of Vietnamese spring rolls with the other ordering that food old stalwart Chicken and Sweetcorn - All entrees arrived promptly and were of the usual high standard.Mains were ordered after eating our entrees - Golden Peacock Birds Nest combination , a Mongolian Beef and a Scallops and vegetables and chicken and cashew nuts with the Nasi Gorneng rice - the restaurants take on...
It was a cool Melbourne evening and unfortunately the temperature inside the Golden Peacock that evening was not a great deal warmer.A few tables were occupied when we entered and our order taken quickly and efficiently.Entrees were delivered within five minutes, hot and tasty, however there was quite a wait for the main course to come to the table, despite a lack of diners in the restaurant.On arrival the food was hot, but as the restaurant temperature was cool to say the least, the food cooled off quickly and was hurriedly eaten whilst still edible.We do like to take our time when dining out, but this night it was not possible.The taste of the main course was not to our liking, nor was the...
Last Sunday evening, we came here for the first time. On recommendation from the manager, we picked its deep fried crispy skin chicken and pan-fried eye fillet Cantonese style (with tomato and soy sauce and sliced onion). The chicken was fantastic - its skin was indeed crispy and aromatic, and served boneless with very good taste. The eye fillet was wonderful - succulent and delicious. It is BYO and has lots of parking space outside. While we were there, there were many phone calls placing take away orders and customers coming in to pick up - quite a few of them were regulars. It must be good and we will return to sample its other dishes.
Golden Peacock from the outside looks like a small hole in the wall but I promise, you will not be disappointed by the food. It's always our first choice for Chinese takeaway and we also love having a meal/banquet there too. The food is fantastic, the prices aren't over the top and the service is always good. The Cantonese Beef melts in your mouth and the Garlic Prawns and Chilli Prawns are always cooked to perfection. I can't fault the food at all. Absolutely delish! My family took me out to this brilliant Chinese / Malaysian restaurant. The best ever lemon chicken was just devine ans the Malaysian beef satay melts in your mouth. We also had a very tasty special fried rice that was choc full of ingredients.I highly recommend this little restaurant for a reasonable price meal and one of the beat tasting ones you will ever have locally
We go to this restaurant all the time. The food is magnificent! Their Peking steak is to die for! It's the best place I've eaten only small but intimate & John is so funny when he serves you all my friends & family go here it's one of them places that is everyone's secret place to eat. It's a diamond of a place & I can't recommend it highly enough!
