I was here yesterday for New Years Eve. Considering the price you pay, the quality of the food does not match at all. The French onion soup was a crime. The onions were not caramelized and the broth tasted awful. The tiramisu was just as pad. I couldn't taste the mascarpone, and the coffee soaking solution was far too sweet. I was not a fan of the chocolate syrup either. Quality meat is used for the steaks, but the sear could be a lot better and it was under salted. Sodas were flat. Golden Steer Steakhouse has a long history of excellent service, outstanding pastas, delicious prime rib, and top-quality steaks cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The restaurant now appears dirty, and the interior desperately needs renovation. Sadly, both the food quality and service have declined since my last visit. The steaks are just average, and the service is inconsistent. We had to repeatedly ask for water, hot sauce, steak sauce, and other items. To make matters worse, one person’s order was completely forgotten; while the rest of us finished our meals, they waited patiently for their food, which never arrived, so it was removed from the bill. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise and a wonderful discovery. While I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, it could be a charming spot for a date night in the neighborhood. The atmosphere had a Wisconsin supper club feel that I enjoyed. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries, which were decent, but the steaks looked and smelled amazing. I also tried a classic Wisconsin Old Fashioned, which was just right. The lighting was a bit bright, creating more of an early evening ambiance. There were a few seats around a small bar, perfect for grabbing dinner after work. This restaurant is now on my radar and I will definitely return.
This was a hidden gem and a great find. I wouldn 't go out of my way for this place but it could be a great neighborhood date spot. Wisconsin supper club vibe in a good way. We arrived at Golden Steer Steakhouse without a reservation and were quickly seated at a quiet, comfortable table. Warm bread and butter were a lovely welcome as we browsed the menu. All four of us ordered full racks of ribs, which were incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. The baked onion soup, salad, and twice-baked potato complemented the meal perfectly. The melted cheese on the soup was both visually appealing and delicious. Our server was attentive and helpful throughout. It’s consistently a dependable spot for a fantastic meal.
I ordered pick up from here. Amazing food! I ordered the butt steak, a NY steak salad, and the businessmen. All the meat was cooked as ordered and was tender. My meals included salad and soup. The food was all proper temperature hot soup, meat, andsides. The soup and salad was delicious. Fast and friendly service and the pick up process was simple. The environment remindedme of cheers, so friendly and cozy. I look forward to ordering from them again and dining there in the future. Well worth theprice. Highly recommend.
This was my first time visiting Golden Steer Steakhouse, and I was genuinely impressed. I really appreciate these classic, family-owned steakhouses—there should be more of them. Our server, Sharon, was incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service throughout our meal. Every dish was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
The dining room is small, a little dated but cozy. Our server was very cordial and considerate; I was dining with a family member that has food allergies and the server did an excellent job triple-checking with the chef the ingredients in the dishes. Food was good, portions were nice and prices were fair.

Our server was fast to take our drink orders and our food. Everything brought from the soup, salad and main course was delicious. The prices are high so be ready to pay but the taste of the steak is worth the price. Unless it's a special day I won't be going back to pricy for me
Great drinks, and soups! The steaks are very good but could use a bit more seasoning. This is my go to steakhouse!
