Golden Union Fish

I used to eat here a lot because the quality and freshness was good. I ate here recently. The food here is very expensive but I don’t mind paying if quality is there, but sadly standards have slipped. It was quite slow service, and when the food arrived, the fish was good, the mushy peas were cold and the chips were very poor. The chips had a strange taste. They are either cutting corners now and buying in chips that are pre-peeled and cut, rather than being properly prepared from scratch that day in the kitchen, (processed and not what a proper chip shop chip should be) or they had a bad batch of potatoes. I noticed only tourists in there when I was there, who I guess would not realise the difference. I will avoid this tourist trap in future. On the positive, there’s a nice atmosphere, with the music on. I don’t recommend this place if you are after proper authentic chip shop chips.

This quaint spot offers two main dishes: haddock and cod, both of which are equally delicious. The cod has a satisfyingly chewy texture, while the haddock is wonderfully flaky—I personally prefer the cod. The only downside was the fries; they were a bit too thick for my taste, as I lean towards thinner, skinnier cuts.

Bad Food, Boring fritters and Way too much deep fried fish and for 2 fish and chips it was 2 Coca Cola it was 50 pound Way too expensive and you also had to pay a little extra Dip for your fritters... I won't be going there again No thanks from here.

the restaurant closes at 9 p.m., 9:10 p.m. everyone tidies up, barely finished the meal they come straight to clear us out, unfriendly waitress, tasteless and expensive fish.
