It was so we sat in the bar area. 15 mins to get kids 2 apple juice and waiting 30 mins before after seeing another couple get served before us) get up and ask was there a problem as we had not ordered yet. The answer was “the chef told me the waiter to not take anymore orders as he was busy with the 8 covers”??? I had 2 kids 6 and 10 years old they won’t wait another 30 mins maybe 1 hour total so I said I’m sorry we need to leave. As usual the food was superb and the service excellent. Friendly but not familiar. Although they had a large party going on, there was no delay in the timing of our food delivery. Of particular mention is my husband's panfried salmon which was beautifully cooked with a crispy skin and served with delicious fresh vegetables and my friend's turkey and ham which would satisfy even the hungriest customer. My chicken and liver parfait was as smooth as silk and full of flavour with the onion marmalade adding an extra bite. Prices are very reasonable. Called in today after a previous very good Experience. Lunch was £10 per person, which is great Value. However, the Service was not good. One Gammon steak arrived out with a steak knife in it covered with a jam like Substance. As I was paying and when asked how the Meal was, I advised that I had left most of mine due to the standard and I mentioned the Knife to the Server , he shrugged his Shoulders and asked what I wanted him to do...I simply replied to take a few pounds off the Bill, which included Drinks as we all make Mistakes. One of the best places in Newcastle to eat! As a family we have booked multiple boxing day meals, a christening meal, confirmations birthdays and even just called in for sunday lunch and every time has been faultless! Most recently for afternoon tea. Paddy and the team at Golf links House are always so accommodating for any occasion always happy to help! The food is 10/10 always beautiful! I don’t think you could find a better place to dine!! Highly recommend

The food quality at this restaurant is superb and the staff are brilliant. I dined here twice in 3 days, including a Sunday lunch where the food was excellent. Upon arrival, we were seated and our drink orders were taken. Peter and his staff went above and beyond to make our visit relaxed and enjoyable, combined with the delicious food, it was a hit! This hidden gem also offers good prices. I highly recommend the burgers and Sunday lunch.
Following a walk nearby we called in for dinner. May have been the person booking he asked us to pre-order. When we arrived no one else was in. Few followed but not that busy. Two starters ordered ribs pretty average. 6 main courses. Have to say mine was ok nothing special. Followed by pudding.
What a beautiful spot, the hotel itself is beautiful inside and out, we had a room Iver looking the local golf course, the staff were beyond attentive, Sean and caitlin were above exemplary and made our stay very memorable. All the staff were incredible and I'd gladly spend time here again
We have been to Golf Links as a family twice in recent weeks. We were very impressed by the friendly welcome and extensive menu. The food was excellent and I highly recommend the steak sandwich. Front of house staff were very personable and we look forward to returning again very soon.

The staff were delightful, but unfortunately the food was spoiled. I will not be returning for a second visit. The turkey, ham, and stuffing dinner I ordered was completely bland.
Went there for mother's day the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly attentive and professional would definitely recommend and be back again
