Wife and I were buzzing through Baar and remembered a friend mentioned Grill Bill. The store is related to Fleisch Discount, a discount meat purveyor in Switzerland. They had a special for 2 for 70CHF for the 400g Miss America that included a huge salad, more fries than the two of us could eat, and what seemed to be a beef tenderloin or entrecôte. The meat was exceptional. For a fatless cut it was extremely tender. After speaking with the chef, I learned the store owners have decided to offer a near budget priced menu for the mostly working class folks that enjoy the establishment. There is local draft beer and wine and other non-alcoholic options for drinks.
I have been a few times and each time I thought I'd give it one more try, but after my last experience I must say it will be definitively be my last visit. What I don't understand is, they have a butcher next door so the meat should be good! When we ask for a beef filet and medium well done I don't expect it to come back like a piece of charcoal, dry and very well cooked. I would of sent it back but after waiting 45 minutes I just ate the rest of the food. The rest of the party was middle happy as their meat was also dry.
Sehr freundliches Personal, gute Preise und grosse Portionen. Das Restaurant war so weit als möglich voll und Coronaregeln wurden gut eingehalten. Trotz vielen Besuchern was das Personal immer sehr präsent. Die Vorspeisen sind sehr rasch am Tisch angekommen und super lecker und als grosszügige Portion serviert. Auch der Hauptgang wurde heiss und angemessen Zeitnah serviert.
