It was my first visit to this restaurant with my wife and it was disappointing to say the least. We were greeted by a gruff maître D who tried to put us on the terrace even though there were thunderstorms but agreed to place us inside when we mentioned it looked like there was room. He mentioned the table was booked in 2 hours which was enough time for us. My Kir Royal was lukewarm and didn't look like it had been prepared with bubbly (flat), after we had out cocktail nobody enquired if we wanted wine with supper - we had to ask after the meal was already there. I frequently bring friends to Grinder and this week marks my third visit. My friends always leave happy and satisfied with the food here. Our waiter, Alejandro, was very kind and recommended some delicious menu items from the heart. The fried calamari and Surf and Turf are always a safe bet. However, I have noticed that the lobster is often overcooked and the fries could be fresher, as they tend to be cold and hard. The medium rare steak and beef dishes are always good though. 2nd visit and last one. The food was good, but that’s where it’s stops.Service was missing the smile and we did not feel welcomed.We were sat down on the interior patio section, which was not our choice and noticed a few droplets of water on our seats and table. As soon as it started to rain again, we understood where the water droplets were coming from as they started to fall on us and in our food. It took them at least 5 minutes to offer a new table and the manager never came over to offer his/management excuses or simply make amends for our food that got seasoned with rain water. If I could, I would rate this spot 3,5/5. The decor and the ambiance is really amazing. It's a nice spot in Griffintown and it has a nice terrasse. However, the prices are jacked up because of the location. The food is very average, especially for the price. But I would recommend to skip supper and get a few drinks instead.
