I came to this place by accident and ordered the mixed white and dark chicken, greens, mac and cheese and fried green tomatoes for my family. This was the best mistake ever. The person at the register was helpful and because I'd never been there heexplained everything from chicken has a kick to having pork in the greens so there were no surprises. The wait was 20 minutesbecause it was dropped to order which I greatly appreciate because it was still hot when I got home. I'll wait for fresh chickenany day; Especially if it tastes good and it did. Everything was so good and moist that I had to stop eating to call them andtell them it was good. I stopped going to the Detroit location because 2x I received burnt tasting chicken. I decided to try the location in Royal Oak, MI. I was not disappointed! The chicken was piping hot, golden brown, crispy, juicy and scrumptious! Also the baked beans were thick and delicious (loose and runny in Detroit). This was my first time trying the mac cheese and it was also very good. Customer service is always good, at both locations! I did not give it five stars because they only serve spicy chicken. *I had just left a funeral and the tall bald man in the kitchen must have sensed something... kindness goes a long way... Thank you for your attention to detail.
Oh my goodness. This meal was so delicious that I had to grab my phone and make sure to give them a 5-star review. The crispy chicken was a perfect 5 out of 5, the slight spiciness in the sides was also a 5 out of 5, and the portion size and weight of my platter were a solid 5 out of 5. I ordered the 3-piece Dark with baked beans and Mac and cheese, and everything was absolutely tasty with generous portions. If you enjoy a bit of spiciness in your food, this might just become your new go-to spot for fried chicken. Move over, chicken shack.
Juicy, tender chicken. Chicken is lightly battered. It has a touch of heat that even my delicate mouth liked. I was surprised at the juiciness for being a tender. Partners full chicken was equally juicy and tender. Fried pickles and green tomatoes have a crunchier cornmeal breading that is very good. Staff was friendly and fast. Thomas made this first visit shine! Such a nice man. CLEAN and all employees wearing masks! Tables are spread apart for social distancing and I felt very secure eating here. Also pie! Chess pie to die for!
We have been dining at this restaurant on and off for nearly two years, and it has consistently impressed us! The only time I have left with a stomach ache is from eating too quickly because the food is so delicious that you want to savor every last bite. The chicken dishes have a nice kick to them, and even though I am not a big fan of spicy food, it is so amazing that it is totally worth it. Today we also tried the mac and cheese, which was fantastic as well. Overall, this is a great place that you should definitely try out!
First timer...The food was great! The staff was friendly and hospitable. We ordered in the restaurant. We may have waited 15-20 minutes. Ordered food for 4. We had greens, mac n cheese, baked beans, and potato salad for our sides. All of them were great. We ordered the plate combos and was very pleased that you can substitute the sides offered with other sides. Everyone enjoyed their food. The flavors stays in your mouth long after you’ve ate the food.
Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken excels at making delicious fried chicken. The chicken features a crunchy outer layer and juicy, flavorful meat inside. The shack potatoes are a favorite alongside the chicken, and cole slaw makes a great complement to the meal. I highly recommend giving this place a try!
