Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

I had a great experience at this restaurant. The dark meat was juicy with a crispy breading that had a hint of heat, which was perfect for my taste. The potato salad was slightly sweet and delicious. The mac and cheese was not as firm as I prefer, but still better than most and made with real cheese. The coleslaw was exceptional, possibly the best I've ever had. It reminded me of KFC, but with a finer shred and thicker sauce that was mild and sweet. The fried okra could have been crunchier, but it was still tasty. The chicken tenders were slightly overcooked on the inside, but the crispy batter was amazing. The pie was a bit too dry and overcooked, but still tasty. Despite a few small issues...

I ordered the 3 piece dark meal with baked beans and mac cheese. The chicken was juicy with a nice heat to it... but the baked beans weren't anything to rave about and the mac cheese tasted like box Kraft Mac Cheese. Best fried chicken I have ever eaten. Has a spicy kick on the regular chicken. Chicken tenders are REAL, but without the spicy seasonings, which is the only option, still excellent. And lastly, the fried Green Tomatoes, fantastic! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch

I have to be honest, the chicken didn't taste very fresh. The Mac and cheese was a bit dry and could use more seasoning. However, the potato salad was delicious and the pie was absolutely fantastic.
