We have been dining at Gustavo for years and have always loved it. It has been our go to restaurant for all sorts of occasions. This time was a huge disappointment. Almost every dish we had was EXTREMELY SALTY. The lamb chops and prime rib small plates were close to inedible there was so much salt it was hard to taste anything else. The ribs were fine but the arugula under them was doused with salt. Even the salad was very very salty. We shared about 9 dishes and almost all had the same issue. The one exception was the deserts they were the best part of the meal. Both the flan and key lime pie were excellent. We love Gustazo — great food well prepared, interesting cocktails, excellent sangria. But there are three things you can count on: the noise level is through the roof (our server had to come in close to hear us), the drinks take forever to arrive (two of our small plates arrived before our drinks did) and your server will be overworked and hard to snag, particularly since an assortment of other people will be delivering your small plates as they’re ready. You can tell them if you want your food delivered all at once, but will likely delay things even more. But if you’re not in a rush and just want to chill in a fun place with great food, Gustazo is great!
I’ve never had Cuban food other than Cuban sandwiches so I didn’t know what to expect, but Gustazo’s far exceeded my expectations. I was impressed right away with the decor, but it just kept getting better with delicious cocktails and excellent food. I’d definitely recommend this place.
