The Harbour Inn Chinese Restaurant located at Pier Street, Altona is in my personal opinion by far the best Chinese Restaurant around, so much so that this is decidedly the only Restaurant from which I have purchased Chinese Food since as far back as the mid 1990's.[Service:]Home Delivery is available for a small surcharge & it never ceases to surprise my family as to just how efficient the service is. Been here twice since it re-opened/was taken over. Once take away and once dine in. Bluntly it is BAD VALUE FOR MONEY. The average price of $19 per main meal is overpriced for a restaurant decked out in paper tablecloths and plastic plants serving average FOOD COURT QUALITY food . When they bought out chicken and cashew nuts instead of garlic chicken we said that wasn’t ours so it went back to the kitchen where they sneakily took the cashew nuts off and bought it back to us as garlic chicken. Just as well we don’t have a nut allergy!! My family ate in this restaurant when we first arrived as migrants in Australia. We celebrated my dad's first pay check. That was the first and the last (1989). This time around I brought my own family. Surely by now everything would have changed. The room was clean and comfortable. There were mirrors on the wall that made the room feel bigger. We were greeted with a friendly face as soon as we entered the foyer part and welcomed to a table with menus in our hands. The were prawn crackers for us to help ourselves with on our tables. Now called "Sea View Chinese Restaurant". A large eat in or take away restaurant in the heart of Altona. Have dined here many times with the old name and now new. Always found this to be a reliable restaurant with nice typical dishes to be expected at a reasonable price and pleasant atmosphere. The staff are always nice and helpful the meals are always sufficient. Not a restaurant to write home about, but if it's regular Chinese cuisine you want you won't be disappointed with this one. Was pleasantly surprised to be given a complimentary glass of port at the end of my last visit. I will go back and do recommend to others to try. This place has just reopened, we had not been there previously so can't compare. We went Sunday and were seated very promptly by a nice gentlemen. In fact he did everything and because of this lost track of what we had ordered as twice bought the wrong things to our table we had waited nearly an hour as It was busy with a big family and a few couples and us and because he was the only person serving. The food was nice but pricey for what you got. If there were more waiting staff I think our experience would have been nicer. We will give it a second chance so hopefully it will be a better experience next time.

The restaurant used to be known as Harbour Inn before it became Seaview. The food used to be good, but now it is terrible - the chicken satay skewers were deep fried as if they had been dropped in dirt and left out in the sun. The special fried rice seemed to be made with frozen vegetables and the duck was very fatty. We will not be ordering takeout from here again. It was a complete waste of money.

The honey chicken here is amazing. At first I did not expect much on entering the restaurant but when I sat down, the merry go land began. It was amazing! The food! The service! I was so happy. The rice is also good. The portion size was also good. What more could you expect? Really. Food = Excellent. Service = Excellent. Thank you. I wish other chinese restaurants could follow your example.

Great food very polite staff with a great knowledge of the menu and ingredients used and table service was fantastic restaurant altho a little dated very clean and presentable all roung a great experience

got takeaway from here and it was lovely. didnt have to wait long. only complaint would be is that it was quite expensive, $15 for chicken curry and rice was extra
