We stopped off here on the way back to Blackpool following a trip to Earby. Contemporary decor on entry but still feels like a local’s pub. Interesting menu, not your usual pub grub but we were drawn to the steak and ale pie. It arrived and our jaws dropped at the size of the portions. Our quarter slice each was more than enough, packed with steak, the top of the melt in your mouth pastry was domed, the pie was so full. Crisp chips, individual jug of gravy provided, the pie was perfection. One of us had the lemon cheesecake and reported that this was no sickly packet mix. Good biscuity base, tart lemon filling of firm consistency, beautifully decorated plate not what we were expecting. Great...
Visited on the 7th May with 8 other family members .Some were visiting from Canada and some from Hednesford. We were booked in at 7.pm . We didn't wait long for the food to be served and the the food was really good no complaints at all. What we were unhappy about was that Music started being played fairly loud in the room where we were sat . We had to ask for it to be turned off . At approximately 9.15 we were asked if we wanted anymore to drink as he was calling last orders . We had only just refilled our glasses so wasn't ready for another . We were told there was no one in the pub so they were closing although there were 10 of us. Then the lights started being turned off in the bar area....
We booked a four day stay in the Hare and Hounds Foulridge, after a 23hr flight we enjoyed an excellent evening meal and had a great nights sleep. The room over looked the car park at the front of the pub but this was not a problem the bed was comfortable and everything was clean tidy and functional. All the staff were polite and helpful, had a good cooked breakfast. The pub was fully booked all four days that we were there. We know the area and have family nearby so it was great for us. Lots to do in the area if your a cyclist it’s got everything from road to mountain biking. Some great short walks around the village or down the canal.
First time visit that won’t be the last. Only called in on first day here from Australia and enjoyed some proper Ale… tried some of the loaded fries off the menu and they are amazing, especially the lamb kofta … but to be honest they are all great. Definitely be trying the rest of the menu while staying in the area. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff… great pub. Reserva una mesa ahora
Food was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful lovely cosy place to be. We had the homemade pie which was perfectly cooked and super tasty, finished it if with their homemade ginger pudding custard it was so tasty and moorish. I would have no trouble in recommending this place to anyone
