Disclaimer: I did order the meal that I am reviewing from DoorDash so an actual in-person experience may differ.Look, I hate to rail on local restaurants online, and I generally leave favorable reviews at most of the places that I eat at. However, the food from Hawaii BBQ Restaurant was really not all that good. I ordered the Spicy Chicken/Chicken Katsu Combo, which came with fried rice and an egg. The price to portion sizing was actually great, as you do get a heaping serving. However, that unfortunately was the only silver lining for a rather bad experience. To start off, the spicy chicken had an unpleasant odor and aftertaste with distinct taste of that off-brand soy sauce. The Katsu was a...

Fast service, large portions, good value.I ordered delivery, food came fast and was still warm when it arrived. Portions were very large. Food didn't look great, very messy, everything kinda just thrown in the box in a pile. We got a BBQ plate and a crunchy chicken fried rice plate. BBQ has a good amount of meat and a great value. Same with the chicken, chicken was 75% of the box not a ton of rice. Flavor was really lacking. While very salty there wasn't a lot of flavor otherwise. Needed hot sauce for sure. Mac salad was strange, not like mac salad I'm used to. Had some onion in it, lots of Mayo and lots of black pepper. Noodles were super over cooked and mushy. What I will say is if you wan...
Such a disappointment. The teriyaki chicken was flavorless, the bbq pork dried out, the rice over cooked, the beef short ribs, chicken katsu and Mac were alright. The worst was the spam musubi. For almost 3$ your basically paying for a block of rice with a sliver of burnt spam. I'm talking crunchy, chewy, and the meat doesn't even match up with the rice. The size of the meals were sort of generous a lot of rice and teriyaki chicken. I understand w inflation an increase of costs and cutting corners. But I would have rather had half the portions delivered for a tastier meal.
Fantastic Hawaiian cuisine located on University Avenue. I have been a loyal customer since my college days when the restaurant was situated further up North. The owner is welcoming and the portion sizes are sizable. My go-to dish is the Makashi Plate (39) which includes ample chicken and a delicious fried egg. It is unfortunate to hear that the restaurant is closing, but I managed to visit for one final meal last week. I was informed that the owner will be retiring after 26 years. Best of luck in your future endeavors, Mr. Chow! Reserva una mesa ahora
I ordered food from this restaurant through Uber Eats yesterday. I got the Hawaiian club plate, but unfortunately, it was cold and lacked flavor. The presentation of the plate was unappetizing, and I had trouble finding the katsu since the crunchy chicken was scattered everywhere. The spam musubi I ordered was also not very tasty. I ended up throwing away most of my meal. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I will not be ordering from them again.
I’m so glad that I found this place. I was craving a loco moco and this was the only place on the ave that has it. Being from Hawai’i, eating this dish reminded me of nostalgia and it really hit the spot. We liked it so much that we came back the next day. Also, the owner of the place is a nice, old man who loves to make small talk with his customers. I really don’t get why there are some bad reviews. If anything come check this place out to support him!
I was sent here by my Bro n law as I was here to train in Everett, and I had to find out here to see if this owner still does. Very friendly and he reminds me to be home in Hawaii with one of the uncles. Delicious food and huge portions. I see his formula...cap eats for broken college kids want something to fill their belly. I'm sure he fed thousands of students since he did it for 30 years. Mahalo is for love, next time I come to Seattle! Aloha.
Best Hawaiian bbq! Best hangover cure or football pre-funk food! Love this place. I’ve known the owner for over a decade and he has the best memory. He remembers where I’m at in my life every time we come visit and catch up. This place is a treasure! Reserva una mesa ahora
The food lacks taste and does not match the presentation in the pictures. Check out the attached photo of the orange chicken I ordered (please excuse the fact that I started eating before taking the picture). Rating: 1 out of 5.

"Amazing 360 degree views of Seattle and beyond! Makes the Space Needle look tiny from up there, and it's also nice that they offer food and beverages up there. Worth the cost of admission and uncrowded, even on the Saturday we went."
