It's obviously popular with locals and as a deli it does indeed offer a wide range of high end items and quality produce, However as a coffee stop it's iffy and I certainly wouldn't cross town again to visit.Mid-morning on a Thursday it was very busy, very crowded, very noisy and very "doggy" (with all the attendant woofing, etc.) The coffee and food service is decidedly disjointed. Order food inside from the deli cabinet, but not your coffee, nor pay the bill. For that you must go outside and queue at a quite small serving window where your coffee order is taken, your food passed through the window and you pay and stand about waiting for your name to be called. Went down to the local Garage and wanted to grab a bagel for lunch to take home. They have salads...And they are awesome. Interesting how we get hooked onto the Coles and Woolies $8 Roast Chicken. They have Roast Chickens here that are a tad more expensive, but OMG..These chickens melt in your mouth, the density is different, I don't know what those supermarket chains do the chickens but for a real Roast Chicken (Take Away) experience, grab one of the Garage's. Had one of their spectacular coffee's and again, cannot fault. This place is a local icon, If your passing drop in they have also fresh fruit and vegie section that just "Pops"...

This deli/food bar was just across the road from where we were staying. We had been told it was expensive - but gosh, do you get what you pay for, and everything was well worth the cost. The quality was excellent, and there was so much variety. The meats were tender and well cut, the fruit and veg was fresh every day and the yogurts were fantastic - the best I've ever had. Service was always with a smile and really helpful. One of the best delis I've ever been in, well worth a visit to Hawthorne.

Bought a bouquet of flowers for the misso for V day. Got home and she went to chuck 'em in a vase and the stems and leaves were completely rotten (couldnt tell when they were wrapped up) took them back and the owner exchanged them for a MUCH more expensive bouquet and could not be more appologetic, no questions asked, no fuss, just great customer service. Good food, limited range, a little expensive for a cafe on a suburban main road. But the cake shop we headed for was closed. Lovely walk to and from the ferry. Really good coffee.

Always friendly and efficient. Great service, quality cakes, slices, coffee and hot chocolate. Always make time as well as you can pick up groceries missed from earlier shop.

Perfect place for all your needs, from coffee to fruit,veggies and not to forget the yummy cakes and deli sections. Hardly just around my block.

Perfect place for a casual catch up. Coffee is really good! They have just start d making pizza which really tasted nice - we will be back!

Clean, fresh food. Well presented,good service. Handy location. Good parking.great selection. Staff are friendly and helpful
