The service was prompt, but frankly, if we wanted burgers, we could have gone to McDonald's. I ordered a mushroom side, which was excessively crispy. It was on the verge of being burnt—just another minute in the fryer, and I would have considered it ruined. The burnt ends were nothing like what I'd enjoyed back in Kansas City; for the price we paid, I expected much better quality. According to my online research, this place had a rating of four and a half stars out of five, but I found the portions to be surprisingly small. I believe even a ten-year-old would have left still hungry. Also, I wouldn’t recommend sitting by the windows; the design makes for an uncomfortable dining experience....

Oh a review I didn’t want to write. I probably ate original Haywards (95th and Antioch) every week in high school. (SMW). It was a football tradition for us. It was amazing. I’m sorry but the new is not. To be blunt, burnt ends “felt” nuked. Rubbery and chewy and zero flavor. Brisket looked more like beef jerky than brisket. It apparently lived in a steamer tray and not cut fresh. Pulled pork was clearly a steamer tray meat also. It was slimy and soupy and it too was flavorless and not freshly pulled and chunky like I expected. My kid had the ribs and they were good. Meaty and good flavor. Meat was dry overpriced and not good. Mostly fat on the ribs. Kid-friendliness: Only had 3 options on the children's menu. Two of them were barbeque so if you have a picky child who only likes Chicken nuggets and macaroni Don't bring your kids here. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20

Fantastic! Probably the most underrated BBQ in Kansas City. Hayward’s is better than most.
