ANNEX May 2022 my wife and I were by bike on the way back from Twist to the local Rhine. From a wonderful evening, night and breakfast in the Backers family, we had a way to return to Bentheim County, with a stop at my wife's raids. From there it went through Denekamp through the Dutch border area towards Bad Bentheim. During this journey we talked about a return to satisfy the beginning hunger. The chosen route led us over the Gildehaus, a quarter of Bad Bentheim. We wanted to do this because gastronomically the place up to the Niedersächsische Hof and the rural guest house Niermann did not offer so much, Imbisse determined the daily business. Both restaurants had not opened, and on almost food we had not the meaning. So we showed potential gastronomic goals in Bad Bentheim and Schüttorf when we looked into the Gildehaus on the cycle path! Ups, that looked good! And at least smells so good! We stood right in front of the Gasthof Hesselink. I already knew about his existence, I only work a few kilometers far away, but he never came to my culinary radar. The inn was taken over a little more than a year ago by a Croatian family and since then Cevapcici, Djuvec Reis and Ajvar have determined the map. A kitchen I have no access to, even and above all, because there is nothing like that in Rheine. The barbecue is located directly on the street in front of the large inn, which also offers rooms. The terrace was well filled, but we were looking for a few free tables. A musician with synthesizer played country music that was all really retro. But the piglet on the grill has already lured! And I looked at my wife that she didn't find the thought of a sniper. Then we put off the wheels, took place at a table, and the boss asked for our drinks request. We asked about the food offer and she answered that one could eat a la carte, or the two day offers Spanish from the grill and (no joke) pea soup (in the Balkan Clan)! She gave us the map with the typical Balkan feed offer and was very fast, we stay with our project. Woman asked the supplements (bread potatoes and herbal salad) and so it was fixed, twice ass to apple choir and beer. After the order, the herbal salad came a part on a small plate with a not too sharp Peperoni above. It was difficult to say if he was made himself, he tasted good. One would wish and hope that a Croatian cook will do it. After not so long the very impressive boss (statistics like Tamme Hanken) came with equally impressively filled plates! My wife said to the head, there's nothing left of the piglet. Especially since the guys on the grill who took care of the successor of the piggy were served with us on the plate, would also require their part for BBQ lunch on Sunday afternoon. In addition to the somewhat stunning sheer amount of meat and the roast potato portion, it smells extremely tempting from the plate! Even with straight 60 kilometers it would be a va banque game to consume this part completely. The roast potatoes were very delicious, seasoned with Ajvar or another picnic paprika. The crust of the pieces of meat was also marinated on a paprika basis and cracked during consumption. ****! Just like the very delicate meat that fell out of the bone and had received a large juice. We barely managed meat, the potatoes not complete, that was just too much. It was about 28 kilometers home. Remember, overcrowded belly doesn't like him! So I can draw a brief conclusion of a compact report on a spontaneous return to the Gasthaus Hessenlink. I wouldn't have landed in a Croatian restaurant that's not my kitchen. But we have not regretted this spontaneous approach due to visual limitations! Speis and drank well, with a total of 43,00, for the 17,90 euros per serving for the Spanferkel there was no suspicion. Well grilled by the Croatian clan in Gildehaus! Can be repeated when the grill is heated again!

At the restaurant should have been a little more atmosphere. But the food was very good! Good stuffed plate with two pieces of schnitzel on it, fries and German salad. And everything for a social price.

Were there to a meeting. Nice service and quick operation! Charm of the 80s but neat and clean!! If it fits, we will also test the food, thank you!!!
