I placed an order through Grubhub some time ago while I was indulging in a bit of a lazy streak trying different restaurants, and this one caught my attention a couple of weeks back. I really enjoyed the food! I was in the mood for something spicy and flavorful, and Caribbean cuisine is a personal favorite of mine. The chicken was perfectly cooked—not too dry—and the sauce it came with was delicious, perfect for dipping the bread and just enjoying. I also tried the jerk chicken, which was great as well. Love the new location..... our family has stopped at Hey Mons the past Five years.... whenever we are in the Sarasota area this is a must stop. Love the curry goat and ox tail soup. Everything is seasoned well.... not hot or spicy, but flavorful. Mr. Bishop is the owner and he also makes rubs and sauces for sale. Cute, comfy and colorful shop. Some seating, but we saw many people come for takeout. Do yourself a favor and give them a try!
The food resembled dog food in both appearance and smell. This place seems to be a front for some sort of illegal operation. The woman who “served” me was visibly shaking and had no idea about the prices or how to process a payment. I even heard the microwave going off 2-3 times. I ended up leaving the food right outside the restaurant.
When the restaurant first opened, it was decent. However, during my second visit, I noticed that the lobby looked like a yard sale. All the freezers in the lobby were full of leftovers, which made the experience feel like a scam. The food didn't seem fresh at all.

I have bought just about every sauce they have to offer and have yet to fing one i don't like. Great tasting sauces and seasonings and sold by good people. Highly recommend their products to anyone that enjoys good caribbean food!
Good sweet plantains and rice n peas. Roti was good but curried potatoes lacked flavor. Portions for potatoes was also a bit small but otherwise good meal. I would say 5 if curried potatoes were great but there were just ok.
