Well it’s a shame to give this a 3 star, Because we often eat here and it’s normally good. I wanted the award winning steak and ale pie , out of stock and they only had 3 options on the pub classics, so my wife and I went with fish&chips . The grandkids one had nuggets and chips and the other had a slightly strange combination , little beef burger with mash and beans. The mash looked like a cow pat and the beans were warm at best so only the burger got eaten. Back to the fish and chips well it’s got to be the worst looking plate of fish and chips I’ve seen in here , clearly the oil needs chaining as it looked brown rather than golden as it should and the fish inside the batter looked grey ....
Came out for lunch with the family during half term. The food was ok, I had the new Gravy Burger which was tasty (the gravy wasn't too tasty though), however Christine was amazing. Considerate, caring and paid attention to detail. We would come back again just for Christine, she deserves a raise!!
The Highwayman is a charming and inviting pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff are attentive and always ensure that everything is perfect. The restaurant is impeccably clean and the food is always freshly cooked and served hot.
I have visited this restaurant multiple times with my family and we always receive excellent service from Christine. She is always cheerful and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We visit at least once a week.

I stopped by after work with a friend for a pint and was served by Hannah. She was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back.
