We were on our way to another restaurant when we noticed Higo Express and decided to stop in because of the appetizing food pictures displayed outside. We were so glad we did! My husband ordered the Lomo Saltado with filet mignon, I opted for the ceviche mixta, and we shared some Higo tacos. The Lomo Saltado, along with the plantains and aji verde (a spicy green sauce), was delicious, although the egg was slightly overcooked. The Higo tacos were also very tasty. The restaurant itself is charming, with a cozy size and lovely flower decor on each table that complements the wooden tables and chalk art on the walls. We started with the causa, which was adorably presented in spoons and delivered a delightful combination of complex flavors—a fantastic appetizer.
The higo tacos were delicious—fresher than most ahi tacos I've had, and a great value. The specialty rolls were also impressive. I particularly enjoyed the sauce on the Peru roll and the delightful crunch of the acevichado roll. Absolutely delicious! The lettuce wrap roll (I believe that's what it's called) was fantastic. The fried plantains were incredible, and the spaghetti noodles were delightful, as were the potato appetizers. Everything is unique and definitely worth a try. Fresh food made to order!
