Date August 2019 Lunch today? Hillbottom Pie Pizza in Port Townsend. We decided to take a trip to Port Townsend; it is such a nice ride there and back. As usual, we met the peasant market, picked up some veggies and then walked to the city centre and tried to eat in a place when we came across this small pizza place in Tyler Street right in front of Water Street in downtown Port Townsend. It is a sweet, relaxed little pizzeria, a bit dated, but a part of its charm. The menu was not overly extensive, which is a good thing, but many elements that you can choose from. They offer pizzas, soups, salads and pies. We started with a house salad first. The salad offered a variety of greens, with cucumbers, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes and sweet-hot peppers (I personally felt no heat. The dressing was a sherry dijon vinaigrette, delicious, pleasant and light. The pizza we chose was White Pie. Not your typical tomato sauce; instead ba-walnut pesto, which is a mixture of mozzarella, ricotta and parmesan cheese, with kalamata olives on this thin crust with a significant crispy outer edge than the cornicione. I liked the flavors and loved the crusty edge, although a few areas of the border were a little on the darker side, overall, I felt personally as if it were a cheese overkill, still decent in taste though; My husband, on the other hand, thought it was an excellent pizza. It's nice to try something else. The restaurant offers only a unisex bathroom, it was also a bit dated, could use a bit of makeover, but nothing less clean. Our server was not excessively chatting, but friendly enough and checked us a few times while we bring more water to our table. Overall, I think it was a great place to try, and prices seemed very reasonable, six decent slices for fifteen dollars. Interior and exterior seats.

Holy smokers. This place hit it out of the park with everything we had today. We've ordered everything since we had a pup outside and try to catch the ferry. Let me just start with the strawberry rhubarb pee being just the best I ever had. The Leek soup, which was a daily special, was like a gift that every bite wanted me more, but also wanted to save me for something later, so I had it again. Even the bread served on the side of the soup was absolutely perfection. The pizza. The pizza. I think I made audible sounds today, with a bite each, but for the pesto pizza. The sopressta was like a drawing board in a bite. Absolutely.

My two daughters and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch on a stormy rainy day. The service was fast and friendly. I had a pepperoni pizza, that was nice and crispy. Just like I like it! The girls both had salads, and then shared a piece of peach pie. They were happy as well. The only downside was the streets in this part of Port Townsend were all tore up as a construction crew was busy installing some new utilities. It made for some difficult getting round.

Not your usual pizza. I had the white cake. It was very rich. The crust was good. I showed up some bubbles. I like that.
