Hillcrest View Inn

The Hillcrest View Restaurant in Pugwash, NS (on the route between Pugwash and Wallace, directly across from the Firehall) is usually very good. We could have had our water pitcher refilled and the meal was a bit slow being served on our most recent visit but the menu selections and the food itself were great. Portions are more than adequate and the food is well-prepared.Air conditioning (or lack of it) is a bit of a problem on these humid days. On one visit our group sat close to the air conditioner which enabled us to stay cool but the air conditioner is so loud it was difficult to hold a discussion. This restaurant is the only one in the area that offers dinner service. The decor is pleasant and the service is friendly. The food was good overall, but one person's pan-fried fish was burnt on the outside. The chowder had a generous amount of seafood and fish, but the flavor was a bit bland. The prices were extremely reasonable. However, it was strange that they ran out of the house salad dressing – they could have easily made more. Despite this, we were overall pleased with our experience.

Atención, este restaurante ya no existe, cambió de nombre "LANTERN restaurant" está en el mismo sitio, si que existe el motel con el mismo nombre Hillcrest Vives Inn.Restaurante de comida sencilla pero buena, aconsejo seafood chowder, sopa de marisco riquísima, no tenían ningún plato de langosta de los dos que ofrecen, las almejas rebozadas con patatas dulces (boniato) riquísimas , el postre casero corto pero propio del lugar.A destacar la atención en el servicio, excelente la camarera.

You would be hardpressed to go hungry here. The two piece fish and chips was huge, especially the fish. The fish was properly cooked and the fries were decent. The fish chowder had so much fish it was piled on top. It was mostly haddock but there were several scallops, clams and bits of lobster as well. The broth was very creamy with no flour or cornstarch. This little motel is out of the sixties but the rooms are spacious and clean. The attached restaurant offered some interesting local choices at good prices. This is a nice spot to drop your bags for a stopover if you are touring or golfing in the area.

After eating lobster for 3 times in 2 days the lobster on homemade bread with garlic mashed potatoes was the best of this whole 6 week trip. I wish I lived closer to Bugwash and Hillcrest View

One of my missions in Nova Scotia was to track down good seafood chowder - and thx to Tripadvisor, we did... Hillcrest View had the Best Seafood Chowder - so much seafood in one bowl yummmmmm

The perfect roadside motel. More quiet than a cemetery. Small hole in wall like someone had passed out and went head first into it. I hope they are okay! Reserva una mesa ahora

Always enjoy stopping at the Hillcrest. Their chowder is delicious and FULL of seafood!!! Delicious fish and burger.
