Hippopotamus - Reserva de mesa

Yes, I know, Hippopotamus is a chain and we are in France, where you are supposed to find much better dining experiences... but... with the kids we have been to many different places in Versailles, including some much fancier restaurants, and others less so... and what the kids consistently tell me is: it feels homy and the food is good. Actually, they are right. It feels comfortable, the staff is friendly, the food is actually good (and I say "actually" for the many snobbish people among our friends who are mocking our choice). So, especially if you are alone on business and are looking for a friendly place and a decent meal at a decent price - that is the place for you! and we will be back...

The food is good (what one could expect from a chain restaurant. However, the service is just so slow. On top of that, some waitresses can 't explain the dishes: Indeed, when asked what was the pièce du boucher (today 's beef piece , she just said it 's a piece of the beef, but I don 't know which one ... Amazing...ly incompetent! Rather than asking at the kitchen what was the beef piece, she preferred instead to reply I don 't know . What a great gastronomic feeling to eat something you don 't know! Also, their parking lot exit doesn 't work well and the entrance obstacle won 't open as it should.

Lovely staff. We were met with a smile straight away, a choice of where to sit. They do have a terrace aswell as inside dining. The menu has a QR code to get it in English if you need it. Quick service, drinks food all served with pleasant chat and checks to see if it’s ok. We had steak and brochettes which were good. Alexandre was really interesting to talk to and helpful. Enjoyed our meal. It’s not fine dining but was good value. Good atmosphere. Been to other restaurants in this chain and it was the best we’ve been to, hence five stars.

We had a couple of drinks in here during the day and then returned in the evening to try the food. During both visits, we found the staff to be very helpful and very courteousAnd polite. All having a good under standing of English as our French was very poor to say the least. We both had steak and found it was cooked to our taste. A very nice experience.Didn,t sample the dessert menu as too full from the main course. I also tried the cocktails and excellent value for money. A nice place to eat and drink. Dropped in on the recommendation of a French friend. They said this was a good place for the family to eat. They were not wrong the steak was amazing and the kids burgers were lovely real meat and not the usual rubbish. Highly recommended.

The restaurant is ok - clean, nice arrange, is offering a limited range of food but delicious (from my point of view). The prices are decent considering the location; a bit long waiting time when was crowded (Monday...???).

Food was ok but overpriced. The steak was cooked well but sides were cold and service was lacking though maybe this was because we were tourists. Fine for closeby the hotel but wouldn't return.

This looks like a french Applebee's. Some beef, some fries, some sandwiches. I'm giving two stars because they never have change. Tifay they didn't had 20 euros in change. Unbelievable Reserva una mesa ahora

Loved it here nice restaurant great design and solid food : Staff was very friendly everything was clean and the price was very appropriate.

The serive is good, food quality is also nice. Nice for a celebration. Demi-Poulet is highly recommended.
