Ho Ho Chinese Food

This location is takeout only for now due to covid, so we decided to order enough that we would have leftovers for two. We ordered around 5:45pm and it was over an hour for our food. I'm a vegetarian and my husband isn't. We ordered 2 vegetable dishes which were supposed to come with rice, as well as 2 meat dishes and an egg dish for me. Well instead of the egg dish, they gave us breaded ribs. The chow mein dish my husband ordered was heavy on the noodles and very light on meat and vegetables. I have been a HoHo fan for years, but sadly after my experience today, I may never return again. We have a picky eater in our family. He always special orders his noodle dish with no vegetables. Today, I placed the same special order...for him for carry out that I always order. I was told hour for pick-up”. I returned in hour only to have the chef from the kitchen come out to tell me she refuses to make any dishes with no vegetables. I told her I would just take whatever she made me and she said she didn’t make me anything. We had to take Gus' father for an appointment in Kenora. So of course we had to eat, I mean is any trip short or long complete if you do not eat out? Ho Ho is from what I am told a long standing restaurant here in Kenora. I can see it in the layout and feel of the place, but if it is the place is VERY well kept. So much of the surfaces were as new. We did not do he buffet, opting for the menu. Won ton soup, chicken chop suey, egg fu yung and beef with greens. It was quite good with nice deep flavour. The folks running the place are a hoot and good with people. Yeah I would go back.

It's all to go orders due to Covid. We ordered chicken and garlic (which was not on the menu but they said they could do it). It was watery with good amount of broccoli, but very sparse, small and tough pieces of chicken...like it was cooked earlier and just reheated. We also got curry chicken. Again decent veggies but poor chicken. Fried pork wantons which were literally just a pea size piece of meat in a fried wrapper...almost undetectable. An egg roll which was about the size of half a hot dog. No rice. No cutlery. Bad food. Most went uneaten. $75

I came to Ho Ho for a Christmas Party with low expectations. A Chinese restaurant in Kenora? Please...When I heard that MSG was in all the food except that special ordered I was doubly dubious because I really don't like it and always have a...reaction to it as did several others in my party. But when I mentioned this to the server they proved accommodating and offered a couple of alternative suggestions. I chose the stir fried greens and chicken and found it delicious. I would come back to Ho Ho for the same meal.

you guys poop and don't wash your hands then touch the food. Your portions are very small and your prices are through the roof!!!. Never eating here again. Poor service the staff was rude when I went to get my food. I got the no.2 and the chicken balls were stale and uncooked the fried rice was gross and really greasy Never order here again I had Hair in my food, And worst of all!!!! I got food poisoning!!!! Not good at all.... ewwwwwwww !!!!

Service was not warm or welcoming but the food definitely made up for it. I order the combo number 2 for $14 and received an enormous portion of delicious traditional Asian food. The restaurant is in a sketchy part of town, but would if you could look past that I would definitely recommend it.

I have been going here since I was a kid, so around years or so. The food is always consistent and is very good quality. I would recommend to anyone. Fast and friendly service.

Good selection of buffet items, but many buffet items have the same rather bland taste. The same can be said for many meals ordered off the menu.

A great menu no matter what you order. The wontons are made there, not bought, the shrimp are excellent, large and very good quality.
