Hoku Hawaiian Bbq - Reserva de mesa

Stopped into Hoku this evening on a whim to pick up some dinner. I've heard pretty good things about this place and always love me some Hawaiian BBQ, so thought I would give Hoku a try. I ordered a 2 item combo with chicken katsu and fried shrimp. A lot of food enough for two meals! Came nicely packaged with a neat baggie of utensils, napkins, and yummy sauces soy, SIRACHAAA, katsu sauce, and some type of creamy sauce for the shrimp. Ordered through DoorDash and was super disappointed. The chicken arrived boiled versus grilled. The chicken was white and heavily seasoned with pepper. It looked nothing like the pictures displayed on their site or even on previous customer reviews. I think they either had a new person on site or a careless person who was just trying to get this order out before closing.

Fantastic food. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Tasted great. Large portions. Friendly staff. Clean interior. The bbq chicken katsu combo was really good. They have really good Mac salad. Wait for food was very reasonable. Did not have to ask for sauce or anything else. Food was packaged nicely and nothing spilled out on the way back to the hotel. Prices were reasonable.

Everything is delicious, huge portions, neatly packed in quality microwave safe bpa free reusable containers. The chicken BBQ was pretty good. The beef was just edible. Shrimp was complete over fried. Spam Masubi was hard. Veggie lumpia was good. The cream cheese dipping sause for the Malasadas (10 Pieces)tasted like finger nail polish. Wont be going back.

The chicken katsu was awful. Half was burnt and other half was rubbery and the outer layer was cold and wasn't even stuck to the chicken itself. Seemed to be reheated chicken not fresh Macaroni was ok but could use less mayonnaise and less tuna.

The curry needs salt. And it's listed everywhere as spicy..but it's not, at all. And the MAC was very soupy. All in all it was OK and I'll likely try something else from them to give a 2nd chance. But the curry was disappointing.

The smoothies are really good. The last two times I've ordered from them the fish is overcooked. Almost inedible. They need to improve that. Chicken was okay but I think the sauces need more flavor. I prefer L&L honestly. Reserva una mesa ahora

Great place. I visit everytime I'm in town. The spam musubi is soon good! I always get the 2 or 3 item plate. Generous portions with sauces on the side. Rice and mac-salad always great. All food priced fairly.

Best Hawaiian bbq I've had in a long time! Get the bbq chicken and katsu at least twice a week. This place is spot on every time
