what happened? hollyhock hill has always been our family for special occasions, that was our first post-pandemic meal there. it was always full. also with reservations you have to wait. we were shocked when we moved to the parking lot to find no other cars. we fear that the place was closed (now I wish it had been.) when we entered, we found our group, the only mozen beside two ladies on another table. where were the linen towels? where were the waitresses in their look like apron? we were greeted by a waiter who brought us to our table and quickly got our drink order. after the delivery of our drinks he continued to take our food order. he seemed the only one who works. for the first time,...
we went here today because we were told that they had the best fried huh. at the order my man asked if there was any flesh in the heavy and we said it was a chicken heavy. I said okay, because we don't eat pigs. the first rough came out (pickled beets were amazing, salat was good, and hut cheese.) the escaped came out, my man was fried chicken and I got grilled chicken. all entrees come with carrots, green beans, gravure and mais. family style. we started to eat and I noticed that there was sinking in the green beans. Finally after many decades of drive bys had family style dinner at Hollyhock. Reputation for the best fried chicken well deserved and in my memory is #1 for its specialty. Thin light batter crispy crunchy lightly properly seasoned skin and for me dark meat chicken meat perfectly tender and moist. Debated trying a different meat but glad I had the top of the menu list. Almost as if each piece was skillet fried exactly the same.The included salad was fresh with a standard light vinegar vinaigrette, apple butter biscuits, fresh cut green beans, beets, and cottage cheese. what a beautiful day to celebrate the 71th birthday of my mother in one of my favorite restaurants in Indianapolis, hollyhock hill. jim and kelly made my mother the day especially out of the moment when we checked in time and during our meal. she felt like a special guest from the beginning. our server were as great as the home cooking. the icy, cookies and pure apple butter were a good opportunity to start our family celebration. then came the new chickens, fried chicken and fresh sides of maize, kartoffeln, picked up and a bundle of other tasty tasty. we finished our meal with the delicious ice creams with a selection of hot fudge, mint or butterscotch topping to refresh the creamy vanilla... in the decision where we have our high time, hollyhock hill was highly recommended. we called and talked to Abby, who felt special from the beginning. when we had our first meeting and went through the restaurant and the garden area, we were sure that it was where we wanted a special day. abby and chris went out from beginning to end to ensure that our day was absolutely perfect. the entire restaurant was closed for our small event and so sweetly decorated. eating was absolutely amazing, and everyone was taken care of at any time. I was 100% satisfied and would highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a place to feel and treat themselves.
the new owners of the hollyhock hill restaurant have made an excellent job. they have taken a good restaurant (30 years reminding my family) and made it even better. the sweet is now freshly prepared (not from the dose,) the margarine was replaced by creamy butter, the cookies are made from scratch (not from the powder mixture,) and the chicken...oh young, it is better than ever. it is so delicate and juicy and, we understand that they have updated to the top chicken supplier in the state. if you want the best house style meal in the middle west, you will get their reservations in hollyhock hill. it's so good, but that's more full.
we held the 90th birthday dinner of my mother for 25 people here and hollyhock hill went out of that to make it perfect. not only that he crawled several tables while he did not have a beat with our, he also added a personal note that this is more than just a job for him. question chris, if you speak in the hollyhock hill and you will be glad you did it!
