Holman Valley Steakhouse

Location is from the beaten path, about 6 miles from Weimer and 13 miles from La Grange. This is a 100-year-old General Store that has been converted into a restaurant and a dance hall. Only on Thursday Saturday for dinner and Sunday for lunch. The screen doors, as you enter, remind you of days past, like the bars at the bathroom doors. They have a good selection of wines and beers and the food reminds you of Grandmas cuisine. Look at the chalkboards on the wall to see which soups, sides and desserts are served. The chicken roasted steak is delicious, like everything we tried. One must try is the Sausage Sauerkraut balls and if you like yellow squash, the squash casrole will hit the point. Prices are reasonable and the service is good. The owner always swings so often through the dining room to make sure their guests take care of. It looks like she's monitoring the kitchen. Almost forgotten, the Buttermilk Pie is just as Grandmas also, crust and filling! Enjoy Bon Appetite!

Really good food. Try the Chicken Fried Bacon from the appetizers. The Chicken Fried Steak is a selection of small or large... The small covered half of the plate. Nice selection of sides, but no baked potato. Dining room is quite loud when full. Waitresses are attentive and friendly, even if very busy. The building itself was a country house on one side and a beer joint on the other side when I was a child. My sister and I always have a root beer on the way to visit our grandparents.

The food here is excellent. Anyone who hasn't eaten here is missing out. This restaurant is a local favorite. I ordered the seafood platter for the first time and it was very good. There was enough for two meals!
