This place was recommended to us by a local lady, so we decided to give it a try. Admittedly it was clearly a very busy evening for them, but we queued for 25 minutes hoping to eat in only to be told that we 'd have to wait another HOUR for gluten free food to be prepared. It doesn 't take much effort to put up a temporary notice saying an hour 's wait for gluten free this evening so that people don 't waste their time. We ended up going to Eric 's, which was equally busy but the staff made room for us and we had our meal within half an hour. I had gluten free Cod Chips, which was absolutely fantastic, it is really difficuilt to get true gluten free fish chips but the Holt Fish Bar totally delivers. We live in Colchester and this was our first visit. We will definitely be going back again. This is the first time I have ever given 10/10 for the owner truly understanding the meaning of gluten free. Thank you so much for a fabulous lunch.
If you're visiting Holt and looking for some where to eat you must try Holt's Fish Bar. Ultraclean dine in area with friendly service and fabulous food. Went for a Senior Special Half Cod, Half chips, choice of mushy peas, beans, gravy or curry sauce which also included a hot or cold drink at just £8. Will definitely come again best tasting Fish and Chips in North Norfolk!!
Did a large order for our team of volunteers and staff (30 people) as a thank you lunch phoned the order through and collected on time. My first visit to Holt Fish Bar and was disappointed.We had a wait of 45 minutes just to order our fish and chips.There seemed to be a lot of telephone orders which slowed the walk in ordering considerably.I just didn’t like the taste of the batter and chips.Simple as that.Had much better.
