In our 40+ years of coming to Myrtle Beach for vacation, we have never had a dining experience as exceptional as the one we had at this restaurant. The steak my wife ordered was perfectly grilled and tender with amazing flavor, my daughters loved the paella dish, and the red snapper I ordered was the best I've ever had in terms of presentation and taste. Our server, Roxy, was delightful and provided great recommendations for our meal. She was attentive and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The manager, Cory, also stopped by to check on us after we paid our bill, which was a nice touch. This restaurant is a must-visit for both tourists and locals alike!
We came to Hook Barrel after a wedding on the beach. We had a reservation and 2 of our party were late getting there. However it took 15 min for someone to greet us and get us some drinks. Otherwise the food and the environment was great. I'm not a foodie but I do enjoy tasting unique appetizers and dishes. The fig and brie appetizer is one of my favorites and the swordfish was awesome. a couple in the party ordered the surf and turf and really enjoyed that as well. Overall I would recommend Hook Barrel to my friends and family looking for an upscale place with delicious food.

We love this place! We’ve been for brunch several times but this was our first time for dinner. I’m 28 weeks pregnant and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary-right when our food came out I started feeling unwell and we had to leave quickly. The server boxed up our food as quickly as possible and sent us with dessert to go because it was a special occasion, it was so sweet! Once I was feeling better I enjoyed all the food and dessert! Can’t wait to go back and hopefully sit and enjoy the entire meal!
Wow! Absolutely delicious! This was more than just a great meal, it was great experience. The ambiance and attention to detail was incredible as was the service. I can't recommend Hook Barrel strongly enough. The swordfish was perfectly done with a cauliflower puree and roasted cauliflower that complemented it perfectly. Our non-seafood eater had the roasted chicken which was also delicious. For dessert, the Baked Alaska was to die for. Can't wait to go back!
The food was good but not at all worth the price. Service was excellent. When you eat at an upscale restaurant you expect great service such as waiter/waitress attention to your needs, clearing the table for the next course and serving your entree in a timely manner. Hook and Barrel lived up to my expectations of a good meal experience but the cost of the meal did not reflect the overall experience.
Dexter was an excellent server who enhanced our dining experience with his helpful recommendations and exceptional service. A "must-visit" restaurant!
