This pub is the oldest licensed hotel in Australia ... so our lovely waitress told us ... and it was fabulous. There are a variety of rooms over two stories of the hotel to eat in and we found ourselves up on the second floor. The place is wonderfully quirky, filled with antiques and all sorts of bits and bobs to entertain the eye. I popped my head into most of the rooms and the decore throughout was delightful.

Restaurant at Hope & Anchor was on our Entertainment card, so thought it worthwhile to check out. Downstairs was full, so we sat in one of the upstairs rooms, themed with horns and stag heads. With a window open and slight breeze, it made for a great space to dine, with only one other table occupied. While they dithered over menu choices, we ordered quickly and did not have to wait too long for our mains.
Mine was beef cheeks with red wine jus, mash, mixed greens & sweet potato chips on top. Lots of meat and greens, with just the right amount of jus. The meat was tender & tasty. My partner had a pork cutlet with apple on sweet potato mash and greens. A good sized serving and als...
Mal servicio y no tan amable al personal de espera. Llegamos a la página de restaurantes y no por nadie en la parte delantera de los diez minutos reconocidos. Finalmente, nos sentamos en el bar, con un ambiente mucho mejor con música en vivo. La lenta pasta de carne hervida era deliciosa, pero no vale la pena el tamaño de la pequeña porción y el precio caro. Decepcionado de haber estado esperando una pequeña cantidad de alimentos durante 30 minutos, de lo contrario, la comida habría sido 5/5. Es la primera vez que todavía tengo un restaurante con hambre.

On a recent trip to Hobart my partner and I had the pleasure of visiting Australia's 'oldest' pub which was luckily quite close to our hotel. The Hope and Anchor is a warm and welcoming old style pub with generous, good quality food. My steak was cooked perfectly, the wine list was decent and the staff were friendly. Live music on a Wednesday night was also a bonus. I would eagerly recommend this place to anyone in Hobart after a decent, no-nonsense counter meal in a cosy setting.
Visita a Hobart, quería experimentar una comida en el pub con licencia más antiguo de Australia (1807). Mis calamares estaban bien ... nada para escribir a casa. Pero decepcionó, pero decepcionó de que el bar tenga un vino de Apple Somersby en el grifo y no hay una taza local. La barra también puede ser increíblemente alta y dura alrededor de una mesa después de las 19 en punto. El televisor lo arruinó para mí, un músico local jugado, pero la televisión (con footing) estaba detrás de ella, un poco de insulto!

Needed a quick lunch the other day so called in to the Hope & Anchor. They have several $10 meals which are great value. I went for the chicken burger which was really tasty and came with very crunchy chips. Not a bad range of beers and cider on tap. Free pool as well!

Un poco de tu juego hoy. Hamburguesa tan quemada, no es comestible. Realmente no deberíamos servir esto, solo cocinar otro ... todo lo demás está bien. Buen ambiente
Nice cold beer and good bar food. Quaint pub had an open fire going friendly staff. Nice place to spend an afternoon in Hobart
