The location is excellent, but the customer service can be inconsistent. They frequently make mistakes with orders without offering an apology. The coffee is decent, though they sometimes scorch the milk, seemingly relying on their hands to gauge the temperature. I've also noticed flies in the bakery display. The staff doesn’t appear to be very happy in their roles. It feels like the place is coasting on its past success, and the owners seem indifferent. There are plenty of other more welcoming coffee shops in Long Beach.

Pastries could be better. Atmosphere is really comfortable, but reusability isn't encouraged. Most of the people get their coffee to go, and then sit in the dining room and drink from the compostable cups. Compostable cups must be taken to an actual compost facility (not just thrown in the garbage or recycling); otherwise, they take an average of 10+ years to disintegrate.They do serve coffee from a mug, but only if you ask for it.

Hot Java is undoubtedly the best coffee shop in this area of Long Beach. I've explored all the options and I wholeheartedly recommend HJ to everyone. However, I do have a few suggestions for improvement. Most of the tables are quite large, which makes it difficult to find a cozy spot for a quiet coffee break during busy times. It would also be great if they could install a self-service water dispenser.

The latte was decent, and the price was reasonable. They offer good milk alternatives, but unfortunately, there are no gluten-free options available. The outdoor seating consists of tables and chairs set up on the sidewalk without any separation. Parking can be a bit challenging. They don't usually put your sweetener in your coffee so I grabbed sweetener. From the kiosk and gave it to the barista to put in my coffee my large fore shot espresso Latte. When I tasted it I albob sparfed he did not put the sugar and I was very upset because I specifically gave him the packets to puthenFood: 5/5

The coffee is decent in the morning, but not as good in the afternoon, though the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, the food choices aren't very impressive. If you're not a fan of dogs lounging around, this may not be the spot for you. The atmosphere is pleasant. Food rating: 1/5.

Strange place, unwelcoming staff. I bought a yogurt, oj and coffee and all three of them tasted off like the food had gone bad. I spent $16 including tip on food I just threw away, the staff was not helpful, I won’t be back

Spicy mocha had a hint of heat, was quite good. Very comfortable seating area
