Being Christmas time, there are not a lot of dining choices in Oberamangau, so we happily paid the $85 euro per person to eat there. The food was tasty, but portions were small. We had several courses of fancy dishes (beef Wellington,duck, risotto you get the idea) and we enjoyed them all. We all received a gift after our special Christmas dinner which was very nice. We have been there for breakfast too, with plenty of pastries, coffee, cold cuts, fruit, yogurt, granola, and all the typical German fair. Pricey, but tasty. This place is off the beaten path, but close to the hotel we were staying. The wait staff are a little slow to get your order but the wait for our meal was worth it. Both meals came to the table hot and tasty. The portion was of a good size and all the sides and salads were good as well. The venison was tender as was the steak. This place has a "Schnitzel Wednesday" they advertise. Wish I would have known about this earlier in the week. It would have been on our list for Wednesday dinner. Definitely a good place to go if you don't mind waiting on your meal.
We hebben ons hier echt een puntbuik kunnen eten. We hadden twee overnachtingen in het hotel en genoten dus van zowel ontbijt als avondeten in het restaurant.Het ontbijt is prima, gewoon zelfbediening en alles is voor handen. Het avondeten was heerlijk en de bediening is uitstekend! De porties zijn groot (mijn "ijsje" werd zelfs door de omringende tafels met gejuich ontvangen) en zeer schappelijk geprijsd.
We walked the little way out of town to the restaurant at Hotel Arnika. We arrived late, around 9pm but we were still happily received and seated. We ordered our food and were more than satisfied. the portion size was huge. The farmers plate could feed a family itself. We also suffered from "food envy" ... every plate that left the kitchen looked amazing. Definitely worth the walk out of town.

What a nice hotel! A lot of money has been spent here. Four of us had dinner, which was expensive. The burger was possibly the worst I have ever eaten, dry and overcooked, with a very solid bun. The venison dish was not a pleasure at all at the price. Lovely position just out of the village, with lovely rural views. But the burgers...
After looking forward to a visit to this restaurant we were quite disappointed with the meal, very greasy and not enough vegetables! However the young lady who served us was very attentive and did her best to look after us.
Mittwoch ist Schnitzel Tag und diese sind gigantisch und schmecken auch noch.Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und auf der Terrasse hat man einen fantastischen Ausblick. Allerdings sollte man einen Tisch reservieren
The best place to be on a Wednesday, with a huge choice of schnitzels, beer and fun. Been coming for many years and my favourite night of the week. The place is quite small so book a table and come hungry.

We went there for schnitzel night. The plates are very large so come hungry. The food was excellent and bringing the dog was not a problem.
Typical bavarian meals, with specialities for asparagus and snitzels (especially on Wednesdays). Quiet and comfortable.
