I have been visiting the hotel restaurant for over twenty years, I was disappointed that the menu was not what it was. However, I did enjoy the steak and chips and the fish was lovely. When we received our desserts my partner had a crumble...with no custard, cream or ice cream. I tried to explain in French the problems, the waitress was in such a hurry she did not listen to me about it being dry to eat. In my opinion only half a dessert.a ice cream was later almost thrown at us and she disappeared. When it came to payment they charged me 6.5 euros for the vanilla ice cream, I explained that I thought it was expensive, in fact very expensive we did not want or order two puddings. Another lady...
My son and I ate dinner here on 18 October. We opted for two courses and we were pleased with our choices. The waitress, who was welcoming and efficient, brought us a mise en bouche before our meal...a beetroot mousse, which was very nice. My...son had the hake, which came with a good sauce. I had the smoked salmon and tagliatelle with a butter sauce. The food was of a good quality. The portions were big...unfortunately, I couldn't finish mine but it was purely because of the generosity of the portion. The restaurant itself is nicely furnished. The linen is of good quality. The other diners were all French. The waiting staff were attentive, friendly, and very efficient. I recommend this rest...
We popped into the Hotel de France for an early lunch. First visit to Vire and seemingly a place not awash with restaurants and the pouring rain made the decision to stop looking! Restaurant area pleasant and quite formal. Reasonable choice and value for the...set menus and they were very obliging being able to cook some chicken for our little one to go with her frites on the children’s menu that otherwise was a choice of fish, ham or steak. All of us enjoyed our food and the service was efficient and friendly certainly an establishment we would return to.
every time we visit this opposite, we visit the restaurant hotel de france because of the high standards of eating and service. you have always met at the door that is a nice, inviting touch. eating is always well presented and served with good fantasy. from a fast and pleasant waitress. the entire experience from the time they enter into the time they leave is a credit to the management.

Meal nothing special. Too expensive for what you get. Cheese served far too cold for example. It showed lack of attention to detail. Service far too familiar. We are not the waiter's mate. Stick to being a waiter. He did speak very good English but...our French is more than average. Why not speak French with us? We're in France and not tourists.
This modern and charming dining room restaurant is equalled by the charm and courtesy of its staff. The menu is disappointingly limited, and not all the available choices were to our liking. However, the food was good if not great, efficiently served and beautifully presented....Excellent bread. The ambience was great. Good value for money.
we come here regularly as a couple and with family. we have never been disappointed. we have tried a lot of things, all were excellent. the service is always good and with a smile.
we stayed at the hotel de france for lunch. what a small jewel of a restaurant! the food and service were excellent. we will definitely stop again.
