The New Bergsonne Hotel and Bergsonnese Sicilian Ristorante. Grüezi: I approached the mountain sun with very mixed feelings that we had come to the very fine hotel and restaurant of Willy Camps and Dorley Stalder Camps for over 2 decades. They sold it and it opened a month ago with new owners, new employees and a total change to the food. I visited this place several times before with the former owner who was excellent. Unfortunately, she stopped. I was curious to meet the new owners. The location is always very beautiful here. Quiet, some minutes outside the village, so it is really quiet and you have a great view of the mountains. On a sunny day the terrace is really nice. The new management offers Italian food. I had a tomato salad that was good. As the head we had pizza that was good, the pasta was okay, but not great. Tiramisu was nothing special. Total average feed. You have a good wine on offer. My friend and I stayed in that place over night and wanted to go to bed early after a long hiking day. From the menu we ordered a main meal and waited, waited, waited. After more than an hour and realizing that others get served before us, we asked. We were told, that we won't get our meal before the others are served because we didn't order the whole three or four course menu which was available on that day. So we got our little bit of food very late and were the last ones to leave the restaurant. Due to eating so late I could not sleep well and had an upset stomach the next and following days.

My friend and I went to the top of Mt Rigi. On our hike down we decided to stop here for lunch. We initially thought it might be closed and almost passed by. I am so glad we did not. The food was amazing and the view was even better. We spent more than what we normally do for lunch, but it was well worth it. I would hike Mt Rigi any day as long as I could stop here. We've wanted to try this hotel restaurant for years, and this time we managed. We sat outside on a hot summer's day but the height (and the efficient sun shades) softened the temperatures.We all loved what we chose.
