We had been biking all day and I wanted Steak and fries! There are two steaks on the menu, separated by 10 Euros! So, I asked the waiter what kind of steak it was (it was simply called beefsteak on the menu). He said it was beefsteak. I said OK - what kind of beefsteak - top sirloin, New York, round, chuck ... what? He said it was BEEFSTEAK. But what kind? BEEFSTEAK he said. He said further that he had worked in restaurants in England, Greece ... all around the world and BEEFSTEAK was BEEFSTEAK!Oh, OK. Rare, please I asked. It was skirt steak.I had also ordered the salmon carpaccio as an appetizer. It was simply awful. The cook (he/she can not be a chef) simply roughly chopped some raw salmon and put it on the plate with a few green on the side. It was disgusting. Nothing extra was added - not even salt or pepper, no capers, no olive oil, no nothing to enhance the flavor. I salt and peppered it, mixed a bit of the dressing from the greens with it and did eat it. Aw comon - I was hungry after biking all day! But still, not too appetizing. On top of that, when the appetizers were on their way, our surly waiter had three of our dishes draped across his arms when he was stopped by a colleague. And just at that moment, he had to sneeze - and did so twice, all over our food. He glanced up to see if we were paying attention and, thinking not, he brought the dishes over and served them to us. Boy oh boy. I was thinking, I hope he isn't coming down with something ...The steak was cooked as requested and the fries were hot and crispy - and not sneezed upon, at least within our view.I don't know ... some things good, some things bad. I guess my overall response to this hotel/restaurant is their total lack of empathy or caring for their guests.
